Tawi-Tawi residents urged to vote for BOL

Leaders of the National Liberation Front (MNLF) and their families as well as members of women and youth organizations on Tuesday attended an assembly meant to raise awareness on the Bangsamoro Organic law (BOL).

The event, held at the Marawi State University in Marawi City, was organized by the MNLF central committee.

Romeo Sema, committee vice chairman for internal affairs, urged the people to say “yes” to BOL.

“The MNLF believes that the BOL is reflective of the provisions of the 1996 Peace agreement,” Sema said.

He said the MNLF recognizes the BOL as a product of the sacrifices of both the MNLF and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

“There should only be one solution to the issue of the Bangsamoro people. The BOL is not just for the MILF or the government. This is for the Bangsamoro people,” he said.

The municipal government of Bongao, capital of TawiTawi, committed to support the ratification of the BOL and urged its people vote in an upcoming plebiscite.

“The mayor supports and trusts this law. Let us do our duty and vote ‘yes’ to BOL,” Kinlene Aming-Sabaani, municipal secretary said, referring to Mayor Jimuel Que.

Commissioner Jose Lorena of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission called on the people to vote in the plebiscite on Jan. 21.
