National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Guillermo Eleazar yesterday sacked five police officers assigned in Pasay City for allegedly trying to facilitate an amicable settlement between a Chinese man and three girls who accused him of molestation.

Eleazar said Chief Inspector Remedios Terte, commander of Police Community Precinct 1 in Baclaran; Police Officers 2 Archie Rodriguez and Ranier Dumancal; Senior Police Officer 2 Jonathan Bayot and Senior Police Officer 3 Timothy Mengote were reassigned to the Southern Police District’s administrative holding center.

Zhang Yang, 19, reportedly an employee of an online gaming firm, was accosted by security guards of a theme park in Pasay based on the complaint of three students he allegedly groped while in the park’s “horror house.”

Eleazar ordered the administrative relief of the police officers following an allegation by the mother of one of the complainants that the police officers offered to have the Chinese teen pay to settle the case and that the lawmen wanted P20,000 of the proceeds.

He told reporters during yesterday’s press briefing at Camp Crame that the police officers allegedly hinted at getting a share, and “that is being investigated.”

Eleazar said they will look into the veracity of the allegation as Zhang underwent inquest proceedings on charges of acts of lasciviousness.

If found to be true, Eleazar said the police officers could face administrative charges.
