MG 5 makes Manila debut at MG Live! free concert
CELEBRATING its first anniversary since opening shop in the country, MG Philippines is holding a special ‘MG Live!’ free concert at the Glorietta 2 Activity Center in Makati tomorrow. The concert will feature a full-set performance from OPM band ‘IV of Spades,’ and will also highlight the Manila reveal of MG Philippines’ latest product – the new 2020 MG 5 subcompact sedan.
The MG 5 was first unveiled to the country at the recently concluded 2019 Cebu Auto Show; and will now be on public display at the Glorietta 2 Activity Center from Oct. 3-6, together with its vehicle siblings such as the ZS crossover SUV, RX5 SUV, and MG 6 fastback sedan.
This grand display, which is meant to bring MG’s stylish and attractively priced vehicles with British heritage closer to the Filipino public, also coincides with the ten-year anniversary of The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) – the official importer and distributor of MG vehicles in the Philippines.
“We at MG Philippines have always regarded MG Live! as a celebration of the vibrance and youthfulness of modern MGs, as well as of the rich musical talent inherent in the Philippines,” expressed TCCCI-MG Philippines president and CEO, Atty. Albert Arcilla. Furthering that “This edition of MG Live! is particularly special because it highlights our latest sedan, the MG 5, which is a model that we at MG Philippines recognize as an important participant in the highly competitive subcompact sedan category, and a vehicle that speaks to an even wider audience.”
The MG 5 offers a tempting subcompact car package, with bestin-class length of 4,601mm, width of 1,788mm, and wheelbase of 2,680mm. It’s powered by a fuel-efficient 1.5-liter DOHC 16V engine that generates 114ps of power and a best-in-class torque output of 150Nm. This engine comes mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or an automatic CVT with manual mode.
Other attractive features of the MG 5 include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment head unit that comes with Apple Carplay and Android Auto; a 360-degree vehicle view – which basically provides the driver with a bird’s eye view of the car, making it a lot easier to negotiate challenging parking situations, and which is even helpful in providing you with a better look of your vehicle’s surroundings during low-speed traffic conditions; a power driver’s seat; and energyefficient LED headlamps.
Besides the complete vehicle lineup display and free concert, MG Philippines will also be offering test drive opportunities for all interested visitors. Prospective MG customers need only to approach any of the MG personnel to schedule their test drive with the unit of their choice. The last call for test drives will be at 5pm of each day, from Oct. 3-6.
In the one year that it has been here, MG Philippines has already grown its nationwide network to 11-dealershipsstrong. The company has also
announced that it is expecting to open seven more dealerships before the end of 2019, namely, MG Alabang, MG Commonwealth, MG Quezon Avenue, MG Pampanga, MG Cabanatuan, MG Iloilo, and MG Tacloban.
It is also worth noting that MG Philippines’ premium aftersales services include a five-year or 100,000 km warranty (whichever comes first), and one-year free PMS (periodic maintenance service). The company also offers a special My MG mobile app for its customers – enabling them to conveniently schedule vehicle servicing appointments from their smartphones. And for major technical issues, MG customers can book home service through a mobile garage service caravan. Additionally, MG HERO services provide 24/7 roadside support via the MG PH hotline number, (02)328-4664.
The new 2020 MG 5 is available in four variants: the 1.5L STD 5MT for P658,888; 1.5L STD CVT for P718,888; 1.5L COM CVT for P848,888; and 1.5L DEL CVT for P938,888.
