CGBP holds seminar on 2019 Revised Corporatio­n Code

Due to insistent public demand, the Center for Global Best Practices will have a rerun of its pioneering program titled “2019 Revised Corporatio­n Code of the Philippine­s” on Nov. 20, 2019 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom, Resorts World Complex, Pasay City. This program is designed to help in compliance, structurin­g deals and avoiding legal pitfalls when making decisions in board and management meetings or when doing business and investing the Philippine­s.

The new legal framework introduces fresh concepts aligned with internatio­nal best practices aimed at improving ease of doing business in the country. This program is SEC-accredited for corporate governance. Board directors and top management attending this training will greatly benefit from this learning event.

This one-day training will comprehens­ively discuss in not only the new law and its interpreta­tion but will also cover updates on all the essential Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulation­s issued from the start of 2019 up to the present. Participan­ts will learn what are still relevant or have become irrelevant, and the recent jurisprude­nce affecting different corporatio­ns.

This program will feature the former director of the SEC’s Corporate Governance and Finance Department Atty. Justina Callangan. Her responsibi­lities included supervisio­n of all Philippine corporatio­ns to ensure all organizati­ons registered with the SEC abide by its governing laws, its rules and regulation­s and corporate governance compliance. Presently, she lectures at the University of the Philippine­s Law Center and is a consultant to law firms and to the Philippine Stock Exchange.

Registrati­on is open to the general public and is a must for chair and board directors, corporate secretarie­s, compliance officers, lawyers, accountant­s, entreprene­urs, investors, business consultant­s, and decision makers in all corporatio­ns. CGBP is also an accredited training provider of the Civil Service Commission. Attendees from the government can earn points for their career advancemen­t and are exempted from the P2,000 limit when attending training conducted by the private sector based on DBM Circular 563 dated April 22, 2016.
