Spooky Spectacular kicks off equestrian series

Equestrian Philippines Inc. takes the title banner for a series of competitions of the Manila Polo Club, launching the EquestrianPH Indoor Championship Series 2019, starting with the first leg on Oct. 26.

Dubbed Spooky Spectacular, the event coincides with the fifth Manila Polo Club Showjumping Competition where riders are encouraged to compete in costume, with prizes being awarded for best costumes as well as for the usual competition placing in this Halloweenthemed event.

First-placed riders in their respective height classes will earn 10 points, second placers six points and third placers two points.

The same points system will be applied at Ride for Life, the second leg of the series on Nov. 16, a competition held for the benefit of the Philippine Red Cross.

The final leg, Oh What Fun It Is to Ride, will be on Dec. 7 where points will carry a double coefficient. The riders with the highest cumulative number of points per category at the end of the series will be named category champs, and a coefficient system which gives weight to classes with higher obstacle heights will determine the overall series champion.

“Series are very important in the development of our jumping riders, as you can create a progression of technical difficulty over a certain period that sees to their constant improvement as the challenges become greater, resulting in stronger, more competitive human and equine athletes as you go along,” said EquestrianPH president Carissa Coscolluela.
