Ayala completes Healthway acquisition
Ayala Corp. has completed its acquisition of Healthway Philippines, a clinic chain operator in the country.
In a disclosure yesterday, Ayala Corp. said AC Health is the new sole owner of Healthway Philippines.
Last month, AC Health signed a binding agreement to acquire a 100 percent stake in Healthway Philippines Inc. from Healthway Asia Ltd.
Healthway Philippines owns the Healthway chain of clinics that comprises seven mall-based specialty clinics and 40 corporate clinics in the country.
“The transaction is aligned with AC Health’s efforts to expand its reach across the healthcare industry. Healthway’s seven specialty clinics and 40 corporate clinics integrates with the healthcare ecosystem under AC Health’s current portfolio of primary healthcare clinics, retail pharmacies, and health technology platforms,” Ayala Corp. said.
With the acquisition, AC Health hopes to be able to serve a broader base of patients that require more than basic diagnostics and primary care.
Healthway’s specialty clinics offer a comprehensive range of out-patient services including specialty consults, imaging, laboratory, specialized diagnostics, ambulatory surgical services, dental services, and physical therapy.
The company is also looking to tap into potential synergies including patient referrals, sharing of medical professionals, and integration of diagnostics and pharmacy services.
Healthway, which serves as a pharma distribution channel, will likewise realize value in integrating with AC Health’s pharma assets such as IE Medica, MedEthix, and Generika. Healthway patients will benefit from a wider variety of pharmaceuticals to be made available across various price points, Ayala said.
Healthway began operations in 1998 and has served over two million patients.
It has a network of around 800 doctors, across different specialties with branches in SM North EDSA, Festival Mall, Alabang Town Center, Adriatico Manila, Shangri-La Mall, Market-Market and Greenbelt 5.
Ayala Corp. said Healthway is an excellent fit, and is extremely complementary to its portfolio.
“Apart from growing our clinic count and patient base, this acquisition also allows us to serve different types of patients across multiple clinic formats, whether it be in primary care, multi-specialty care, or corporate clinics. We see many opportunities for synergy, including patient referrals, sharing of medical professionals, and integration of diagnostics and pharmacy services,” AC Health president Paolo Borromeo has said.
