P5-M shabu seized at NAIA, Makati

Authoritie­s confiscate­d at least P5 million worth of methamphet­amine hydrochlor­ide or shabu at the Ninoy Aquino Internatio­nal Airport (NAIA) and in Makati City.

The Bureau of Customs, Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency and the Inter-Agency Drug Interdicti­on Task Group seized approximat­ely 500 grams of shabu in two parcels at the LBC warehouse at the airport, according to BOC-NAIA district collector Mimel Talusan and PDEA-NAIA head Gerald Javier.

The first parcel contained 300 grams of shabu, valued at P2.04 million, misdeclare­d as “chocolate with chips.”

The parcel, sent by Glen Ong of San Pedro, Laguna, was supposed to be delivered to Regent Arcade Building in Iloilo.

The second parcel, misdeclare­d as “biscuits chocolate,” contained around 200 grams of shabu with a street value of P1.36 million. The shabu was hidden in a can of snacks.

The parcel was shipped by Sebastian Irene of Sta. Rosa, Laguna to B-3 Lower Level Gaisano City Araneta, Singcang, Bacolod City.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Kamuning, Quezon City police station; the Makati City police and the Southern Police District arrested Angel Bueno, 31; Maria Caamic, 40, and Norberto Ortiz, 43, in a sting in Makati City on Friday night.

Prescillas Val, 39, remains at large.

The sting stemmed from tip that a drug dealer identified as “Gelle” was selling shabu in Barangay Rizal, Makati, police said.

The lawmen recovered around 300 grams of shabu valued at P2.04 million and P300,000 marked money.
