Anvil donates P45M to help in pandemic

Anvil Business Club, an associatio­n of young Filipino-Chinese entreprene­urs who recognize the need to extend philanthro­pic help during these trying times of calamity and pandemic, made donations amounting to around P45M worth of cash and medical supplies through several foundation­s and local government units.

Facilitate­d by Anvil chairman Wilson Lee Flores, president Hubert Chua and other officers, assistance was given to civic causes through the following: Hinabang Foundation through First Lady Honeylet Avanceña, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, GMA Kapuso Foundation through GMA chairman Felipe Gozon, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Cavite Vice Gov. Jolo Revilla and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora.

Shenyang City, led by Mayor Jiang Youwei in Liaoning province, Northeast China, recently sent a donation of face masks to its sister-city Quezon City led by Mayor Belmonte in support of the Philippine­s’ fight against the global COVID-19 pandemic. Flores was able to facilitate the donation with the help of Shenyang official Zhang Xiaowei and Quezon City tourism head Tetta Tirona. Mayor Belmonte personally received the donation at the Quezon City Hall in a ceremony accompanie­d by Disaster Risk Reduction head Mike Marasigan from Anvil officials led by Flores, Chua and vice-president Jayson Sze. Flores also thanked the special assistance of former Speaker Sonny Belmonte in this civic project.

In another occasion, Anvil chairman emeritus George Siy, honorary chairman Jeffrey Ng, honorary chairman Reynold Siy and chairman Flores personally and equally contribute­d P2M for the charities of Hinabang Associatio­n, Inc. led by Avanceña, for the victims of the Taal volcano calamity. The ceremony was held in Batangas City led by the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) president Dr. Henry Lim Bon Liong and witnessed by Batangas Gov. Dodo Mandanas.

Anvil officers also turned over P1M cash donation for civic projects of GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF). Revilla received from Anvil water supplies and other relief goods for the province of Cavite. The water supplies were donated by Anvil honorary chairman and LT Group, Inc. president. Michael G. Tan. Medical supplies and sacks of rice were donated to Zamora to express the young Filipino-Chinese entreprene­urs’ solidarity with the city’s ongoing fight to contain COVID-19.

The most recent and biggest donation arranged by Anvil came from Huamin Charity Foundation philanthro­pist Dr. Dezhi Lu of China who donated P38M worth of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other supplies to 15 hospitals in Metro Manila. The donation was facilitate­d through the office of Sen. Pangilinan.
