More COVID cases in Cebu City, Luzon

Cebu City yesterday recorded 73 coronaviru­s disease 2019 or COVID-19 cases, with one death.

Seventeen of the new cases are from the city jail.

Cebu City has recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases since ”high-risk” areas shifted to general community quarantine on June 1.

A total of 167 cases were recorded on Friday, the highest in one day.

There are now 3,434 cases in the city.

In Ifugao, Kiangan town recorded its first confirmed case, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Saudi Arabia.

Kiangan Mayor Raldis Adrei Bulayungan said the OFW, who arrived in the town on Tuesday, was found positive for the virus yesterday.

The OFW, who is confined at the Region 2 Trauma Hospital and Medical Center in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, is the third case in Ifugao.

The first two cases are also OFWs who returned to Lamut and Lagawe towns.

The Baguio City health services office yesterday recorded two cases – a 43-year-old female hospital worker and a 35-year-old male.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong said contact tracing, quarantine, disinfecti­on and medical protocols are ongoing.

In Benguet, a 42-year-old male from Buguias town was infected, bringing the number of confirmed cases in the province to 26.

Two cases were recorded in Barangays San Jose and Sto. Tomas in Manabo, Abra.

In Pangasinan, two employees of a local radio station in Dagupan City are the latest cases. They are confined at the Region 1 Medical Center.

Sta. Barbara town recorded its first COVID-19 case yesterday.

The Pangasinan provincial health office said there are now 73 confirmed cases in the province, 23 of them in Dagupan City.

Zambales recorded its 25th case on Friday, a 36-year-old male from Sta. Cruz town.

In Cotabato City, Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi said their new case is a returning resident who was stranded in Manila and arrived on Cebu Pacific Flight 5J 887 on Thursday.

There are now 14 confirmed cases in Cotobato City.

Last week, a 40-year-oldreturni­ng resident, who was also stranded in Manila, tested positive for the virus.
