- By GHIO ONG

Another illegal establishment allegedly operating as a medical facility and catering to Chinese patients believed to be infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was raided in Parañaque City on Saturday.

Local police and city hall personnel swooped down on the clinic located on the third floor of Morgana Building along Multinational Avenue at around 1 p.m.

Police said they recovered medical supplies such as sterile dextrose, stethoscopes and personal protective equipment.

Police said they also confiscated 64 boxes of medicine that can reportedly cure cough, flu, COVID-19 and sexually trasmitted diseases. The supplies have labels all printed in Chinese.

The alleged caretaker of the clinic, Cai Yongchun, 51, was arrested after he failed to show business permit.

Police said they would file charges of violating the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, Philippine Pharmacy Act and the city’s sanitation code against the suspect.

The raid stemmed from the complaint of homeowners in the village, police said.

Last May, city hall personnel and police busted two illegal clinics in Barangays Tambo and Poblacion reportedly treating Chinese patients infected with COVID-19.

The Parañaque health department has recorded 895 cases of COVID-19 with 658 recoveries and 55 deaths, according to Mayor Edwin Olivarez.

Olivarez said a majority of the COVID-19 infections were posted in Barangay San Dionisio with 139 and Barangay Vitalez with 10.

In Makati, the number of COVID-19 cases has reached 900.

Of the number, 300 are active cases or those undergoing treatment.

The city health department said 81 succumbed to the virus and 489 have recovered.

Barangay Pembo registered the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 72. Barangay Forbes Park has the least virus infections with two.
