Muntinlupa extends sitio lockdown

The city government of Muntinlupa has extended its lockdown on a community after recording 29 more cases of coronaviru­s disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the area.

Since June 13, Zone 3 Interior of Sitio Pagkakaisa in Barangay Sucat has been placed under an extreme localized community quarantine (ELCQ), which was supposed to end on Friday.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, however, extended the lockdown to July 3 by issuing Executive Order No. 23.

“Based on the recommenda­tion of the City Health Office, upon conducting polymerase chain reaction tests among the residents thereof, which number 130, 29 are confirmed positive for COVID-19,” the measure read.

As of June 26, 32 cases were recorded in Sitio Pagkakaisa. Twentynine of them are from Zone 3 Interior.

Two other communitie­s have been placed under lockdown: Morning Breeze Homes in Alabang and Block 35 Excess Lot in Soldiers’ Hills Village, Barangay Putatan.

As of June 26, the city has recorded 381 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 257 recoveries and 37 deaths.

Meanwhile, the city government said it alloted P21 million to hire 3,761 displaced workers for a minimum of 10 days during the last three months of the community quarantine.

Tricycle, jeepney and pedicab drivers were deployed to help repack and distribute relief goods and disinfect homes.

Displaced seamstress­es were also hired to produce face masks and personal protective equipment for frontliner­s and residents.
