NAIA-3 set to resume int’l operations on July 8
The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 will resume international operations beginning July 8, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said yesterday.
In a statement, MIAA said it is preparing for the resumption of international flight operations at the terminal “as global aviation endeavors to return to normalcy.”
MIAA media affairs division head Jess Martinez said after temporarily closing its doors on March 28 this year, NAIA Terminal 3 will finally open its gates to resume international flight operations beginning 12:01 a.m. of July 8.
NAIA Terminal 3 airlines, which were relocated to Terminal 1 in March, will return to their original terminal.
Flights of All Nippon Airways, Air Asia Berhad, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines and Turkish Airlines will arrive and depart from Terminal 3 starting July 8.
However, international operations of other airlines assigned to Terminal 3 remain suspended. These are Cebu Pacific, Delta Air, Qantas Airways and
United Airlines.
International departures of Philippine Airlines (PAL) continue to operate from NAIA Terminal 1.
NAIA Terminal 2, on the other hand, continues to service international arrival flights of PAL.
Airlines assigned in NAIA Terminal 1 shall remain in Terminal 1. These are Air China, Air Niugini, Asiana Airlines, China Airlines, China Eastern, China Southern, Etihad Airways, Eva Air, Ethiopian Airlines, Gulf Air, Hong Kong Airlines, Japan Airlines, Jeju Air, Jetstar Asia, Jetstar Japan, Korean Airlines, Kuwait Airways, Malaysian Airlines, Oman Air, Royal Brunei Airlines, Saudia Airlines, Scoot, Thai Airways and Xiamen Air.
Some foreign carriers operating in Manila will also service repatriation flights.
NAIA Terminal 4 will remain closed until further notice. Some domestic operations are still operating at NAIA Terminals 2 and 3.
Martinez clarified that only 2,400 passengers a day will be accommodated at NAIA terminals due to Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases restrictions. These include 1,200 passengers on repatriated flights and 1,200 on commercial flights carrying Filipinos stranded in other countries, diplomats with their spouses and children, foreigners with permanent residence visas and foreign students.
While Filipino tourists are still prohibited from departing, only stranded foreigners, diplomats including their spouses and children and Filipino holders of permanent residence visas are allowed to depart on an airline of their choice, Martinez said.
