Regional indie bands sign with Curve Entertainment
Curve Entertainment believes that exceptional talents do not come from Manila alone, but they thrive in many parts of the country. In support of the undiscovered gems, the label has been welcoming artists from different regions to its stable and helps them make their mark in the local music scene.
Five young men from Cagayan de Oro City comprise pop-alternative band Inside City. Clyde Aquino, Allan Satore, Kris Peñero, and brothers Mark Chester and Jay Mark Crisostomo share the burning ambition to bring a different level of musical experience to audiences in their hometown. They decided to form the band in 2017 and it has been a whirlwind of stage invasion since then. They have been the staple front acts of big artists whenever the latter perform in CDO. Inside City’s latest feat was earning the Top 15 wildcard finalist spot on ABS-CBN’s Your Moment in 2019, where it finished Top 6. Soon after, the band did not waste time and went straight into the studio to record the debut original single, Balik Tanaw.
It has been two decades since the group of five young men who called themselves Insights conquered the local charts with hits More Than A Heartbeat and Just For A While. Going through adulthood has taken its toll on the members who pursued other personal interests and chose to be based in their hometown, Iligan City.
But music runs in their veins, deeply, that after 24 years, they decided to bond together. With a renewed line-up but still armed with the same passion and dedication, Insights was re-born with former members Nella Mariquit, brothers Christian and Hajji Actub with Richie Saceda, Hubert Ates and Marcel Avila. Its first single is the moving ballad Let’s Start Over Again, which speaks not only about a seemingly failed relationship, but also the band getting back to its feet.
Pop-alternative Alab has also joined Curve’s roster. College friends Jaworski Sison, brothers Butch and Brendan Bantog, Ian Go and Darwin Mendoza formed the band in 2013 and have since achieved milestones in a short period, such as having won the Independent Musician Rising Awards in 2016, being a finalist at the 2015 Mossimo Music Summit and in the Greenwich BandKada in 2017, on top of performing in some local biggest music festivals. Its debut single, Aking Sinta, is a modern-day serenade that everyone can relate to.
Other regional artists who have inked deals with Curve Entertainment are Cherrydust of Cavite, and Northdrive and Purpleshoes of Tarlac City.
