All activities for plebes at the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) in Silang, Cavite have been suspended following the death of another cadet on Friday.

“Since two deaths of new cadets were recorded in the past three days, all activities for members of the PNPA Class of 2024 will be suspended until further evaluation and assessment,” the PNP said in a statement issued yesterday.

Cadet Fourth Class Jiary

Jasen Papa of the PNPA Class of 2024 was preparing for her early morning activity when she collapsed at around 3:30 a.m.

Based on her logbook, she asked permission to go to the bathroom at around 2:30 a.m.

Papa was brought to the PNPA Health Service and later transferred to the Qualimed Hospital in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, where she died at around 4:34 a.m.

Doctors said the cause of death was electrolyte imbalance or hypokalemia.

On Wednesday, Cadet Fourth Class Kenneth Ross Alvarado, 19, died of heat stroke. He collapsed while participating in an evening mess formation.

Alvarado died while being treated in a hospital.

PNPA director Maj. Gen.

Jose Chiquito Malayo had earlier said they would implement additional measures to protect cadets.

PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa ordered an investigation into the incidents.

Gamboa said the PNPA should immediately submit the results of its investigation of the two cases.

Papa and Alvarado were among the 306 cadets, consisting of 254 men and 52 women, who attended the reception rites on July 3.
