PNP logs 74 more new COVID cases

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reported 74 new coronaviru­s disease 2019 or COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 6,904.

The Cordillera police office logged 26 new cases; Metro Manila, Caraga and Bicol, four each, and Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas and Northern Mindanao, one each.

The administra­tive and operationa­l support units of the PNP recorded 27 cases while the national headquarte­rs logged four.

Total recoveries in the police force is now 6,240, with 77 added on Wednesday night. The number of fatalities remains at 21.

In Isabela, the women’s and children’s desk as well as investigat­ion office at the police headquarte­rs at Camp Rosauro Toda is on partial lockdown after three police officers and a non-uniformed personnel were found infected yesterday.

Isabela police director Col. James Cipriano said three of the patients were exposed to their infected colleague whose wife also contracted the virus.

The wife of the police officer is among the 20 officials and employees of the Enrile municipal government who recently tested positive for COVID-19.

Enrile was placed under modified enhanced community quarantine due to an increase in the number of confirmed cases.

In Nueva Vizcaya, the provincial capitol and its premises will be closed starting today until Oct. 30 for disinfecti­on after three employees tested positive for the virus.

Gov. Carlos Padilla is among those who underwent self-quarantine.
