YOUNG ARTISTS MARK DEBUT WITH EP, SINGLES
Some of the latest music releases marked the music debut of young artists, namely Tawag Ng Tanghalan alum Janine Berdin and Keifer Sanchez, as well as Fil-Canadian newcomer Iona Gibbs.
Iona Gibbs’ I Can’t Make You Love Me
Making her music debut is 18-year old Filipino-Canadian singer-songwriter and ramp-commercial model Iona Gibbs. Her first single, a soulful rendition of Bonnie Raitt’s I Can’t Make You Love Me was born from her love of the original song, and her desire to reinvent the classics with a sound more tailored for the new generation.
Highly inspired by OPM’s modern take on R&B, she wanted to incorporate the feel of current music while bringing back to life the songs that inspired her to pursue music in the first place. The song will be made the official Philippine soundtrack of the upcoming GMA Asianovela series My Forever Sunshine which will start to air in July.
The single is now available for streaming and download in all digital platforms worldwide exclusively distributed by Curve Entertainment, Inc.
Janine Berdin’s WTF I actually wrote these songs
Tawag Ng Tanghalan (TNT) Season 2 grand champion Janine Berdin has finally introduced her debut EP, WTF I actually wrote these songs, which exposes different stories and emotions in six songs she penned herself.
The mini-album already has about 1.5 million streams on Spotify, making her the biggest gainer on the platforms’ Top Artists Philippines list, up 35 spots at No. 150 as of June 11, with monthly listeners of over 500,000.
WTF I actually wrote these songs is a collective of relatable emotions that people go through one way or another. It includes new tracks Araw-araw, Ikaw, I’m Not Her, Padayon Lang and SHE WAS ONLY 16. Her previously released singles Pagod Na Ako produced by JK Labajo and The Side Character complete the EP, which was produced by ABSCBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo under the Star Music label.
The Star Magic artist and Polaris talent is regularly seen on ASAP Natin ‘To with Elha Nympha, Reiven Umali and JM Yosures as New Gen Birit Idols. She also recently released a collab with Adie called Mahika.

Keifer Sanchez’s Last Reply
Keifer Sanchez is the latest TNT Boys member to launch a solo single with Last Reply, an emotional ballad about one’s struggles over the end of a long distance relationship.
Now 17 years old, the Tawag Ng Tanghalan Kids first runner-up exhibits his maturity not just through his voice but also in the theme of his new single, which he co-wrote with Debbie and Ferdie Mak, produced by Mak Entertainment Services, and released under Star Music.
As a member of the TNT Boys, Keifer has performed with fellow members Mackie Empuerto and Francis Concepcion in many countries such as the US, Canada, Italy, United Kingdom, and more. He has also guested in international TV shows like Little Big Shots in the UK, US and Australia, World’s Best and The Late Late Show with James Corden, where he even had the opportunity to sing with famous pop singer Ariana Grande.
Currently, Keifer is a high school student attending online classes at the Ateneo de Davao University. He plans to eventually continue his studies abroad.
