Ahead of today’s observance of Eid’l Adha – the Feast of the Sacrifice in Islam – President Marcos urged Filipinos to “break the chains of divisiveness” and join hands in achieving their shared goal of a better Philippines.

Marcos had issued Proclamation No. 2 declaring today, July 9, a regular holiday in the entire country in observance of Eid’l Adha. “As we join hands towards achieving our shared goals, I hope that we will transcend our differences, break the chains of divisiveness and emerge strong as one nation,” he said in his message for the occasion.

“The journey ahead of us will not be easy, but if we fight for what is right and predicate our every action on our love for our fellow men and women, our people will surely benefit from the results of our individual choices,” the President said.

Meanwhile, the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) said that employees who will be on duty today shall be entitled to additional pay. Since Eid’l Adha is a regular holiday, the employee who works shall be paid a total of 200 percent of his/her wage for that day for the first eight hours.

For overtime work, the NWPC said the worker shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his/her hourly rate for this day. Under the rules, if this regular holiday also falls on his/her rest day, he/she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his/her basic wage of 200 percent for being on duty.

Also, for overtime work done during a regular holiday that also falls on his/ her rest day, the employee shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his/her hourly rate on the said day.

On the other hand, employees who did not work during the regular holiday shall be paid 100 percent of his/her wage for that day.
