- – Elijah Felice Rosales

Internet provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has joined the data center bandwagon by offering its own service for both its business and residential customers.

Converge has launched Data Center (DC) Express to accommodate the high capacity requirements of firms and individuals alike.

DC Express serves as a clear channel, dedicated connectivity hooking up data centers, especially banks, business process outsourcing and multinationals, through the Data Center Interconnect Network of Converge.

The service relies on the latest dense wavelength division multiplexing that enables users to input even their high capacity needs.

The technology that DC Express operates on allows for up to 100 Gbps of transfer speed to data centers here in the Philippines.

Converge is also looking at expanding DC Express to international data centers.

The firm also provides an optical transport network for customers who want to use their own terminals.

Apart from supporting Ethernet connectivity, DC Express recognizes the different protocols that interconnect customer equipment housed in data centers.

Converge, owned by businessman Dennis Anthony Uy, said enterprise clients can also use fiber channel given its compatibility with DC Express, particularly for critical business applications.

DC Express seeks to cater to the connectivity requirements of firms whose equipment is located in data centers.

Converge chief operations officer Jesus Romero said DC Express hosts enterprise grade service level agreement and its utilities could be provisioned fast.

Romero also vowed that the service has a 24 hour support and restoration team ready to respond to customer issues.

Romero added Converge intends to widen its offerings to serve the growing needs of its clients, especially in the business sector.

According to Romero, enterprise subscribers could bank on the DC Express to provide them with fast and secured data transfers.

Structure Research, a firm specializing in Internet infrastructure, said the Philippines is turning out to be a promising investment site in the Asia-Pacific region for data center projects.
