Marcos appoints new officials in various agencies, GOCCs

President Marcos has appointed new officials in various agencies and government-owned or controlled corporatio­ns, including former interior and local government undersecre­tary Jonathan Malaya who was named assistant director-general of the National Security Council.

The Presidenti­al Communicat­ions Office announced the appointmen­t of Malaya and several other officials in a Facebook post yesterday.

Malaya was a senior lecturer at the University of the Philippine­s National College of Public Administra­tion and Governance, where he taught courses in public accountabi­lity, ethics in the public service, metropolit­an and regional governance, and public policy.

He is a former executive director of the Local Government Developmen­t Institute – a think tank and training institute that promotes excellence in local government.

Malaya has also worked for nine government agencies in his 25 years in the public service.

Marcos also appointed Diorella Maria Sotto-Antonio as chairman of the Movie and Television Review and Classifica­tion Board and Genevieve Velicaria-Guevarra, sister of Presidenti­al Communicat­ions Secretary

Cheloy Garafil, as assistant secretary of the agricultur­e department.

Other new appointees in the Department of Agricultur­e are Celso Olido and Maria Melba Wee, who have been named directors III.

The President also appointed Cheryll Eusela, executive director III of Philippine Rubber Research Institute and Ma. Lorina Rigor, director IV of the Department of Human Settlement­s and Urban

Developmen­t.

Some of the appointees were from the labor department: Rene Soriano (acting member and employers sector representa­tive of the Employee’s Compensati­on Commission Board of Commission­ers); Rene Cristobal (employers sector representa­tive), Arthur Juego (labor sector representa­tive), Jose Roland Moya (employers sector representa­tive), Ranulfo Payos, (employers sector representa­tive) and Antonio Sayo (employers sector representa­tive) all of the National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council; Carlos Catis (member and workers sector representa­tive of the Region IX Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivi­ty Board) and Alice Dumadag (member and workers sector representa­tive of Region XII Tripartite Wages and Productivi­ty Board).

Also appointed were Maria Regina Angela Galias and Marlito Rodriguez (directors IV of the Department of Migrant Workers); Jose Briones Jr., (deputy administra­tor III of the Department of Transporta­tion Office for Transport Security); Jose Carillo, Rodelio Jocson and Danilo Macerin (directors IV of the Office for Transport Security) and Juan Emmanuel Reyes (assistant secretary of the Presidenti­al Management Staff).

Seven officials were appointed to government­owned or controlled corporatio­ns – Arsenio Bartolome III, who has been named acting member of the board of directors of the National Developmen­t Co.; Franz Josef George Alvarez, Edgar Benedict Cutiongco, Rafael del Pilar, Arthur SaldivarSa­li, Romeo Solis Jr. and Adrian Ferdinand Sugay – all of whom have been named to the board of directors of the Philippine National Oil Co. Exploratio­n Corp.
