INCHCAPE UNVEILS THE PINNACLE OF SUSTAINABLE LUXURY: THE NEW MERCEDES-BENZ EQS

Inchcape’s IC Star Automotive Inc., the official exclusive distributor of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the Philippines, unveiled its much-awaited all-electric flagship—the MercedesBenz EQS 450 4MATIC AMG—last Tuesday, at the Mercedes-Benz BGC Showroom. It’s the latest addition to the MercedesBenz EQ family that was introduced last year. The EQS is the first model built on Mercedes-Benz’s modular design intended for executive and luxuryclass electric cars.

The new Mercedes-Benz EQS 450, which has an introductory price of P9,990,000, is designed to exceed all expectations. While the new EQS is a close relative to the new S-Class flagship sedan, the electric architecture is all its own. This luxurious electric sedan marks a major milestone in integrating progressive mobility with executiveclass luxury.

THE SPORTY ELEGANCE OF A COUPE, THE SPACIOUSNESS OF A SEDAN

The characteristic one-bow design is created by the coupé-like roof line, which extends in an arc over the vehicle, over the frameless doors to the rear. With its one-bow lines and cab-forward fastback design, the EQS features a short nose and a one-piece aluminum clamshell hood that rises forcefully and slope, flowing into a windshield with a severe incline. The new EQS has a Panoramic Sliding Roof, so whether open or closed, the panoramic sliding sunroof gives you a wonderful feeling of freedom and a bright and pleasant ambience in the interior. In addition, the new EQS features seamless door handles with chrome inserts that contribute to its beautifully sculpted design.

Furthermore, the new EQS offers Digital Light with Ultra Range High Beam. It has the visually digital light consisting of three light dots linked by a light band. The Digital Light adapts to the driving situation for relaxed and safe driving. It constantly adapts the illumination of the road for you to the lighting conditions, the traffic situation, the course of the road and the weather. The rear lights, which have internal mechanisms shaped like a curved 3D helix and are joined by a light band, are equally iconic of the EQ family.

TECHNOLOGY THAT LEADS THE WAY

The new EQS is already in the next-level performance. Through Artificial Intelligence, it can make decisions almost instantaneously and learn over time about how the car is used. The new EQS is also equipped with Zero-Layer interface that brings vehicle functions and infotainment to new dimensions. The control and display concept completely refine to its user and makes them personalized for the driver by suggesting numerous infotainments, and vehicle function.

As part of the MBUX infotainment system, adaptive software makes sure that the most pertinent applications are available at the top layer of the system and can make personalized suggestions about comfort, entertainment, or vehicle functions based on context and situation.

The spectacular MBUX Hyperscreen is the absolute highlight in the interior with a stunning 56-inch curved display.

The MBUX Hyperscreen allows the user to view all information and issue voice commands more easily. The display has three screens that merged together by a length of bonded glass with the driver an OLED 12.3-inch, the center a 17.7inch display, and the front passenger gets a 12.3-inch display. In addition, EQS is supported by Burmester 3D surround sound system with 15 speaker, Wireless charging, Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Screen content can be quickly and easily shared with other passengers. Selection and modification of navigation destinations also is possible from the rear seats. MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment System comprises two 11.6-inch displays with touch controls on the backrests of the driver and front passenger seats. The MBUX rear tablet is also available as standard. It is a fully fledged tablet and can also be used outside the vehicle. In addition, apps (Android) can be installed. With this convenient remote control, all rear seat entertainment functions can be comfortably controlled from any seat position.

FIRST-CLASS COMFORT

The new EQS prioritizes ride comfort with a four-link front and multi-link rear suspension similar to the luxurious flagship sedan S-Class. It features AIRMATIC air suspension with adjustable damping and realtime adaptation to road conditions.

The new EQS can transform the rear passenger compartment into a connected feel-good lounge. The seating comfort is impressive thanks to electrically adjustable backrests, climatized front and rear seats and comfort armrest in rear. The intelligent control option via the MBUX rear tablet in the comfort armrest is also an exciting feature.

The interior of EQS comes with the Active Ambient Lighting consist of 190 LEDs that wraparound light strips and elements meld to form an additional lighting level with 64 colors available. The system works visually with the MBUX voice assistant and recognizes the position of the person speaking so it can direct cues like the system waiting for further input. Overall, the allnew EQS is designed to emphasize a luxurious and smooth driving experience.

The heart of the EQS 450 4MATIC beats with the next generation lithium-ion battery—a sophisticated, high-energy density that sets a benchmark in performance, efficiency and charging capacity. It has a 108.4 kWh battery pack with a maximum range of 717 km (WLTP). Depending on the road conditions, driving habits and load, the new EQS could allow you to travel back and forth from Manila to Baguio worryfree. The new EQS is equipped with 21-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheel that creates sporty and robust character.
