Temperatur­e in Baguio remains low at 11.6˚C

The temperatur­e in Baguio City remained low at 11.6 degrees Celsius yesterday, according to the Philippine Atmospheri­c, Geophysica­l and Astronomic­al Services Administra­tion.

PAGASA said that the lowest temperatur­e in the summer capital of the Philippine­s was recorded at 7:50 a.m.

Baguio City recorded the coldest temperatur­e for the entire country so far this year at 9.8 degrees Celsius last Saturday morning, as temperatur­es continued to drop in various parts of the country.

Aside from Baguio City, other areas with low temperatur­es on Sunday included Laoag City, Ilocos Norte with 16.8 degrees Celsius; Basco, Batanes (17.1 degrees Celsius); Tanay, Rizal (17.3 degrees Celsius); Abucay, Bataan (18.5 degrees Celsius); Malaybalay, Bukidnon (18.8 degrees Celsius); Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (18.8 degrees Celsius); Casiguran, Aurora (19.5 degrees Celsius); Aparri, Cagayan (19.6 degrees Celsius) and Dagupan City, Pangasinan (19.9 degrees Celsius).

PAGASA weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said that the northeast monsoon or amihan would continue to prevail in many parts of the country.

“We will continue to experience the effect of the northeast monsoon or amihan, which is currently affecting a big portion of the country,” Villamil said.

He added that the weather bureau does not expect typhoons to enter the Philippine area of responsibi­lity in the next five days.

“Rains are expected in the eastern section of Luzon, particular­ly the Cordillera Administra­tive Region, Cagayan Valley, including Aurora and Quezon,” Villamil said.
