The corporate social responsibility arm of Sy-led BDO Unibank Inc. is set to rehabilitate more regional health units to provide health services to more barangays nationwide.

To date, the BDO Foundation has rehabilitated 163 regional health units since it started to improve healthcare facilities and access in various communities of the country in 2012.

“We are happy to begin the new year with initiatives that directly impact the health and well-being of communities in need,” BDO Foundation president Mario Deriquito said.

It has turned over three newly rehabilitated rural health units in Camarines Sur, Bicol region this month.

The centers, located in the municipalities of Nabua, Gainza and Goa are expected to benefit a combined 177,000 individuals in 67 barangays with primary and maternal health services, including consultation, laboratory and dental services, immunization, and pre- and post-natal services.

BDO Foundation said the rehabilitation efforts on the Nabua regional health unit 1 lying in facility, Gainza regional health unit-family planning center, and Municipal Health Office of Goa, focused on refurbishing and improving the facilities, offices, clinics, consultation and treatment rooms, waiting lounge for senior citizens, and play areas for children.

These enhancements will not only elevate the standard of healthcare delivery to the communities but also provide more comfortable areas for both health workers and patients.

BDO Foundation was established in 2008 to contribute to nationbuilding by addressing the needs of underserved sectors of society through its disaster response and financial inclusion advocacies.

Supported by the BDO Unibank community and in partnership with local government units and non-governmental organizations, it mounts relief operations, rehabilitates rural health units, constructs school buildings, implements financial education programs and undertakes COVID-19 response programs across the country.
