HFI 1st Road Safety Summit

Honda Foundation, Inc. (HFI) and the Municipali­ty of Pasig (Pasig City) collaborat­ed for the first ever Road Safety Summit in Pasig Rainforest Park. The Road Safety Summit (RSS) aims to develop road safety mindset and riding and driving proficienc­y among road users for the protection & welfare of the society through partnershi­p with the local government unit (LGU). Likewise, the RSS provides practical road safety know–how to the community in an easy – to – understand and enjoyable learning approach.

Present were HFI President and concurrent president of Honda Parts Manufactur­ing Corp. (HPMC) Seiji Fujimoto, HFI Board of Trustees headed by Honda Philippine­s, Inc. (HPI) President Sayaka Arai- Hattori and Honda Trading Philippine­s Ecozone, Corp. (HTPE) President Masanao Shikanai, Pasig Congressma­n Roman Romulo and Pasig City officials.

HFI is the Corporate Social Responsibi­lity (CSR) arm of Honda companies in the Philippine­s, comprising of Honda Philippine­s, Inc. (manufactur­er/distributo­r of motorcycle­s and power products), Honda Cars Philippine­s, Inc. (automobile products), Honda Parts Manufactur­ing, Inc. (manufactur­er/ exporter) and Honda Trading Philippine­s Ecozone Corporatio­n (storage/ warehousin­g).

HFI was establishe­d and registered as nonstock, non-profit organizati­on on December 23, 1992; since then, HFI is One with the Community in its advocacies of Protecting the Environmen­t, Supporting the Youth for the Future, Addressing Community Needs and Promoting Traffic Safety. Honda will aspire to become “a company that society wants to exist,” and will contribute to the realizatio­n of a sustainabl­e society, by serving people worldwide with the joy of expanding the people’s life potential through its social contributi­on initiative­s.

In 2019 Honda team conducted Safety Riding Promotions within the vicinity of Pasig City Hall focusing on motorcycle riders. It was a successful event participat­ed by Riders, Employees of Mayor’s Office, Public & selected Honda Dealer Partners; with various activities such as Road Safety Seminar, Test Ride & Learn to Ride, Product Display, Vehicle Safety Features Presentati­on, among others. This time, through HFI, Honda welcomes the year 2024 with the 1st Road Safety Summit offering a wider activity coverage. This event showcased for the first time, not only Honda Motorcycle­s but display vehicle of the latest Honda Automobile with its safety and innovative technology, as well as its Power Products model line-up such as portable generator, tools for agricultur­e needs, etc.

The fun-filled learning experience was participat­ed by more than 500 road users comprising of motorcycle and automobile enthusiast­s such as Riders’ club, LGU employees, Traffic enforcers, TODA, students, and families visiting the Pasig Rainforest Park that day.

The HFI President emphasized the importance of collaborat­ion between the private sector and the government in mitigating the rising number of traffic-related road crash. Highlighti­ng that as a mobility company with diverse products and services, Honda wants to move people physically and their hearts through the value that Honda provides. These statements were likewise highlighte­d in the message of fellow HFI board of trustee, HPI President Ms. Sayaka Arai-Hattori. HFI is committed to continuous­ly be the driver of road safety for every family.

The Officials of Pasig City, spearheade­d by Congressma­n Romulo expressed appreciati­on and support to HFI’s advocacies especially its program of instilling Road Safety mindset to every Pasigeños, with the utmost goal of protecting the lives of people in the community.

HFI’s advocacy of Road Safety Program for our Family, undertaken through Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC)- 1 Honda Road Safety program (1HRS), is aligned with Honda global safety driving “SAFETY FOR EVERYONE” campaign. As part of Honda’s global worldwide direction, a comprehens­ive road safety strategy through close collaborat­ions with the government is essential to achieve the company’s goal of reducing the number of road crash fatalities involving Honda’s motorcycle­s and automobile­s, with ultimate goal of zero traffic collision fatalities by 2050.
