Manila Harbour Center rebrands to Manila Multipurpose Terminal
The Manila Harbour Center (MHC) is changing its name to the Manila Multipurpose Terminal (MMT) as part of its facelift and rebranding to widen its local and global network.
Its owner and parent International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) yesterday announced that it is introducing a new name, logo and website for MHC as part of the facelift of the largest international bulk and break-bulk facility in the Philippines.
The facility is expected to grow its role in general cargo to support the recovery of the trade sector from the pandemic decline.
The terminal, which occupies 13.2 hectares in the northern segment of the Port of Manila, serves 10 million metric tons every year, making it the busiest international bulk and break-bulk facility in the country.
ICTSI global director for MMT Phillip Marsham said the rebranding will help the terminal widen its network of clients here and abroad. In line with this, the terminal is launching a new website where customers can access information about it.
MMT facilitates cargoes from industries like agriculture, communications, construction, manufacturing, mining and power.
Marsham said the rebranding ensures that the MMT is aligned with the standards, objectives and values of ICTSI.
“As a subsidiary of ICTSI, we embarked on this rebranding initiative to echo the ICTSI Group’s global standards and industry leadership,” Marsham said.
ICTSI took over MMT in 2021 after acquiring 100 percent of shares in the Manila Harbour Center Port Services Inc. (MHCPSI). The deal, valued at P2.45 billion, tightened ICTSI’s grip on the logistics play in the Manila Bay waterfront.
MHCPSI holds the right to operate the terminal through a permit granted by the Philippine Ports Authority. MMT serves bulk, breakbulk and project cargo, but can also process general types of shipments, making it a crucial infrastructure for ICTSI.
