- By LOUELLA DESIDERIO

Restaurant operator The Bistro Group (TBG) has signed a 25-year commercial lease with the National Development Co. (NDC) for the latter’s property in Makati City.

NDC general manager Anton Mauricio and TBG president Jean Paul Manuud inked the lease agreement for the 1,256-square meter lot along Kamagong St. in Makati that will serve as the new corporate head office of TBG Shared Services Inc.

The investment arm of the Department of Trade and Industry said the lease is until Jan.1, 2048.

It declined to provide the exact lease amount for the property, but said it is “upwards of P7 million yearly.”

Funds generated from the lease will be used for NDC’s current and future projects.

TBG’s new corporate head office will have up to five floors of office space, with planned commercial spaces at the ground floor.

Manuud said the property is seen as an ideal location for TBG restaurants to be opened at the ground level of the corporate office in the near future.

“Kamagong St. is an integral part of our company’s history. We established our roots in this space in 1994 and it has been our home since. It was a testament to the growth of TBG for nearly 30 years,” he said.

For his part, Mauricio said the lease represents a professional business partnership and model of cooperation between the private sector and the public sector.

TBG operates 23 restaurant brands in the country including TGI Fridays, Hard Rock Cafe, Texas Roadhouse, Italianni’s, Denny’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Watami, Modern Shang, Bulgogi Brothers and Fish & Co.

It also owns and operates Bistronomia, a collection of boutique Spanish or Mediterranean restaurants Las Flores, Rambla, Tomatito, BCN by Las Flores and Rumba.

Also part of its portfolio are restaurants by award-winning corporate executive chef Josh Boutwood such as Helm, The Test Kitchen, Savage and Ember.
