‘A lot of screaming, dancing, and partying’ in Magic Men Australia’s Phl shows

The hunks of Magic Men Australia are all set to put the Filipino audience under their spell. They are poised to perform at the Newport Performing Arts Theater come March 16 and 17.

Before the presscon proper began last Wednesday at KAO Manila in Newport Mall, the Australian male performers showed off titillating dance moves and steamy choreography in front of the small and select audience, giving a sneak peek of what to expect from their live shows.

All the “single” members of the crew, composed of Melbourne’s Will Parfitt, Sean Wepener, Carlo Powell, Carlos Fang; Brisbane’s Jeff Cornelius, Nick Murray, and Sydney’s Dante Johnson, are currently in Manila for their first-ever Asian tour, presented by Trifecta Brand Lab.

On the side, Dante is a personal trainer, actor and model; Nick is an electrician; Calum is a professional dancer; Sean runs a merchandising business; and Jeff is a construction worker.

“We want our audience to experience an unforgettable night that is inclusive and purely fun. It’s going to be amazing and everybody would love to drop their inhibitions even for just a night while they enjoy watching us take our clothes off and tickle their fantasies,” teased Will, who has an uncanny resemblance to “Magic Mike” lead star Channing Tatum. Will is also a part-owner of the Magic Men Australia.

Magic Men chief executive officer Carlos, on the other hand, promised the Filipino audience a high-energy show, saying: “What you can expect from a Magic Men show is a lot of screaming, a lot of dancing, and a lot of partying.”

The STAR asked them about their impressions of the Filipino crowd prior to coming here and most of them were amazed by the Filipinos’ warm hospitality.

“We really immersed ourselves in the culture and a lot of people,” answered Nick. “And I honestly think of all the places that we’ve traveled to, here in the Philippines, you have the friendliest people…

“And we love being here and we can’t wait to see (you) coming to the show and meet everyone in the show,” he added.

Will, for his part, shared that they are used to entertaining Filipino audiences.

“Our show in Australia we do get a lot of Filipino ladies and gentlemen to come to our show,” he said. “And they are always a little bit shy and reserved to start with but as the light goes on and it starts getting low, people get comfortable with us.”

“And gets a little bit wild towards the end of the night,’ Will quipped. “So we can’t wait to bring that to the show here and it’s gonna be an amazing night.”

Jeff summed it up by saying that they definitely feel good to be welcomed in the Philippines.

“Everyone is so very, very nice and welcoming to us,” he declared. “My impression before coming here was I actually wasn’t sure what to expect. I really didn’t know but now that I’m here (and) I’ve seen beyond what I was expecting. You guys are welcoming. It feels great to be here.”

Except for Jeff and Nick who visited the Philippines in 2019, it’s the first time for the Aussie performers to visit Manila.

They also assured the press that they will make everyone “feel safe” and show

“respect” to the attendees.

“We kind of gauge it, it depends on the crowd and then we will see how they react to us and the first few things that we do. We can always adapt and change, it depends on how people react. Sometimes, people are real conservative, and other times, they just go crazy. We just gauge our audience and we go from there,” Will told The STAR on how they deal with a more reserved crowd.

“I feel like our performance caters to every audience when we go out there,” said Dante. “I feel like we are very good at breaking the ice and making everyone feel safe. And most importantly, respect.”

“We are not gonna try and get naked if someone doesn’t want to see that kind of thing,” he further shared, adding that they always consider the diverse backgrounds of their audience every time they perform.

Nick chimed in, “A lot of communication as well before the girls came on the stage. Say, ‘What are you comfortable with?’ (When they) tell that you know and then you cater your routine to work to that. We’re all professional so we can make it work on the spot. It’s perfect.”
