OPM HEAVYWEIGHTS TO HEADLINE AURORA MUSIC FEST

- By CHARMIE JOY PAGULONG

On top of the finest Original Pilipino Music (OPM) acts that will headline the Aurora Music Festival 2024 on April 6 and 7 in Clark Global City, Pampanga, the eventgoers can also marvel at the hot air balloons that will light up Clark’s skyline and savor Kapampangan food that will be available at the venue.

On Day 1, SB19, Cup of Joe, Moira, December Avenue, Adie and Juan Karlos will render their respective sets while Rico Blanco, Parokya ni Edgar, Kamikazee, Orange and Lemons, Andrew E, and Itchyworms will entertain the spectators on Day 2.

Festival organizer Epic Events has partnered with FWD Life Insurance, with the latter launching the insurance policy for music lovers called The One for Music Lovers.

Epic Events owner Louie Alcantara said in an interview with select press that they chose the lineup of artists that will perform in the event based on Spotify’s most requested and most streamed artists.

“Aside from the artists, we also have hot air balloons. Over 20 hot air balloons will fill up the sky. And we are also checking if we can do a drone show na hindi pa nagagawa in a largescale festival,” he beamed.

“Usually during the concert, there’s the hot air balloon which will serve as the backdrop then usually in the end or sa headliner, there will be fireworks.”

Citing Pampanga as the food capital of the Philippines, Alcantara added that there will be over 100 food merchants stationed at the venue. “So that (festival-goers) can taste, for example, from Pampanga, sisig, kakanin, (others). As in concert, food trip, kumpleto for the whole family.”

Alcantara told The STAR that they always try to come up with better music festival experience every year since its inauguration in 2022. “Kasi meron kaming nanood na from the past years and we always want to level up (the experience), like there’s always something new. The rest, it will be a surprise, so one must go to the event.”

They are also in talks with IV of Spades’ management to mount the rock band’s reunion for next year’s edition.

“What we are trying for next year is the reunion of IV of Spades. So somewhat in talks (with them) because it’s our fourth Aurora (Music Festival) so sakto ‘cause IV,” shared Alcantara. “Hopefully, the first day is the reunion of IV of Spades, then (the) second day (is) for the titos and titas naman (with bands like) MYMP, Side A, Freestyle, Hale, (among others).”

Meanwhile, the collaboration between Epic Events and the FWD Life Insurance means “new heights and elevated concert experience” for the festival-goers, noted Alcantara.

“With FWD Life Insurance, we are ‘ensured’ of the next generation, which means we insure people who are passionate about music. So that’s why this collaboration, we are so excited about because we know that music is very iconic for us Filipinos,” remarked FWD Insurance chief marketing and digital business officer Roche Vandenberghe.

“First and foremost, it’s really the love for music. So that’s the core thing that actually binds us together. The brand of FWD is about celebrating living… Celebrate living through music, through the experiences that they can experience. And of course, we’re (an) insurance (company), there’s financial protection that comes with it,” she added.
