MerryMart marks 200th sari-sari store transformation

- By RICHMOND MERCURIO

Tycoon Edgar “Injap” Sia II’s MerryMart has successfully transformed 200 sari-sari or neighborhood retail stores in the country into a mini-mart.

Through MerryMart Wholesale, the project aids the transformation of sari-sari stores to become a mini-mart while purchasing their grocery inventory from the MerryMart Wholesale app.

Sia said that as of yesterday, the project has completed the transformation of the 200th store into a mini-mart.

“We have been observing and studying in detail the sarisari store industry around the country, and we believe that the true long-term solution for these hundreds of thousands of sari-sari stores to thrive is to transform and become minimarts,” Sia said.

“From doing the selling of items from a small hole in their window, they transform to become a grocery mini-mart where their loyal customers or ‘suki’ can now enter their ‘tindahan,’ just like the set-up of their branded and modern mini-mart competitors that recently opened near their stores. This will enable them to compete and thrive thus retaining and enhancing their household livelihood income,” he said.

The MM Wholesale e-commerce platform supported by MerryMart’s modern distribution centers are expected to eventually be available in 82 provinces nationwide.

MerryMart said the direction aims to cover 99 percent of the Philippine consumer market.

The company is continuously expanding its branches with the group now having 127 operating stores.

It is also focusing on further enhancements in the MerryMart Wholesale’s super app which is seeing continued exponential growth in registered users.

The MM Wholesale App is envisioned to eventually become the most dominant online wholesale e-commerce platform in the country.

MerryMart distribution facilities in Tarlac and Laguna, meanwhile, will be followed by the roll out of two in Luzon, three in Visayas and three in Mindanao to achieve the first 10 distribution centers network nationwide.

“The whole MerryMart Team will continue its entrepreneurial approach as it pursues to achieve its set goals,” Sia said.

MerryMart’s different formats include MerryMart Store, MerryMart Market, MerryMart Grocery, MerryMart Delivery and MerryMart Wholesale.
