Making Y2K fashion cooler with OPPO Reno 11F 5G’s summertime design

- By DAWN SOLANO

Iwas old enough to remember the hype for low-rise jeans and metallic tank tops of the 2000s. Now that gen Z has resurrected it, there’s no doubt that the Y2K fashion will be everywhere again—from flip phones to pink tracksuits.

That’s what first came into my head when I held the OPPO Reno 11F 5G. It’s a new variant of the OPPO Reno 11 Pro 5G, which was released in February. It is the more affordable younger sibling of the Reno11 series.

It weighs in at 117g and is 7.54mm thin, making it lightweight and stylish.

Let’s dive into why the design stands out. It comes in three color variants: Coral Purple, Palm Green, and Ocean Blue. The names clearly paint a picture of a summer beach. But it doesn’t stop there.

Through OPPO’s Magnetic Particle Design, the back panel of the purple and blue variants are texturized with glitters to achieve a ripple effect. This is also present in the green, only that it uses fine glitter all over the panel and is seen when light hits it.

Moreover, the shiny, metallic camera lens cover added to the Y2K vibe. Behind the cover is a 64MP Ultra-Clear Triple Camera that has 4K Ultra-Clear Video capture.

THE POINT-ANDSHOOT TEST

Recently, my family and I have been doing a lot of traveling to the higher parts of Rizal. We visited cafes and, of course, indulged in the peaceful view of the mountains in Tanay.

I had the Reno 11F 5G with me during these trips. It works well in whatever lighting as it has the combination of a f/1.7 aperture lens and a main 25mm equivalent focal length.

I like taking photos of nature, of anything that just sits still and demands to be admired. This phone is perfect for any point-andshoot photography. If you’re gearing up for a series of travels this summer, you might want to consider the Reno 11F 5G for its price.

What I also love about OPPO’s front cameras is that it gives the user a great portrait photography experience.

OPPO’s Portrait Expert Engine hits portraits out of the park through the clarity and facial enhancement feature powered by AI. It helps reduce noise in lowlight environments. It also improves facial clarity, which helps even out skin tone and remove blemishes while maintaining your natural facial features.

THE GREAT OUTDOORS TEST

Outdoors would not be much of a problem with the Reno 11F 5G as it has a maximum brightness of 900s nits. This works well with its 120Hz AMOLED display.

So, if you’re on the beach, chilling and watching your favorite show or just any random video, you would not miss any detail of it.

When I say it’s really the device you could bring for travels and spontaneous listening parties, it’s true. OPPO has activated the ultra volume for this device up to 300%.

THE PERFORMANCE TEST

This phone is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7050, which has been helpful in the post processing of its photos and smooth video streaming of 4K HDR resolution videos.

Matched with its ColorOS14’s Trinity Engine, the device is pretty much up for any multitasking activities. Just trust its 8GB Ram and 8GB Dynamic RAM.

I’m not much of a gamer but I have a brother and younger nephews who enjoy spending their spare time playing mobile games. Not to worry though, I have enough storage for these offline games, movies, and other apps because of its 256 internal storage.

The phone comes with a microSD card slot that can accommodate as much as 2TB of data.

Most importantly, we really must commend OPPO for its attention to its phones’ battery life longer than pricier, highend smartphones. The OPPO Reno 11F 5G removes battery anxiety because of its 5000mAh battery capacity, matched with its 67W SUPERVOOC speed charging. I went through a day texting, browsing, and phototaking, without any worry.

THE VERDICT

Overall, the phone deserves to be looked at, because it has more to offer than just it’s pretty looks. It offers familiar specs, meaning these features aren’t new or groundbreaking.

There’s some slight annoyance with bloatware upon opening the device for the first time, which made setting it up a little taxing since I just wanted to have the apps I intentionally wanted to download.

What it promises though, is that whatever task you want to complete with it, it won’t fail you down. It’s steady and sure, just like how the Y2K fashion made its comeback today And I think the OPPO Reno 11F 5G just exhibits those qualities.
