11 Brgy. Mandalagan officials charged for SAP anomalies
Five complainants on Monday filed multiple charges against the barangay captain, three kagawads, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairwoman, five barangay staff, and a purok president of Barangay Mandalagan in Bacolod City for allegations of anomalies in the distribution of the government’s Social Amelioration Program (SAP).
Assisted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Bacolod City, the complainants accused Barangay Captain Arturo Parreño; barangay kagawads Bernabe Canoy, Aaron Abao and Michael Medel; SK President Mary Joy Galleto; barangay staff Elizabeth Ferrer Garzon, Luz Villaflor, Christine Beatingo, Mary Nel Guardiano, Stephen Ryan Rimpus; and Purok President Joel Nicavera.
Ccomplainants claimed in their affidavits submitted to the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office that the barangay officials “selected their close relatives, family members, political affiliates, and living with descent position.”
They also named 72 recipients in Barangay Mandalagan who received the P6,000 SAP cash grant under alleged anomalous conditions.
The charges against the barangay officials are for their violations of RA 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, RA 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards of Public Officials and Employees and RA 11469 or the Bayanihan To Heal As One Act.
The officials have not issued any statements about the case as of press time./
