Program Development head, Dr. Renilyn Reyes, said that of the 23, 12 are doctors. The rest are nurses - 6, midwives - 3, radio technologist - 1, and medical technician - 1.

Reyes added that of the 12 doctors, 10 are from Iloilo City and the other two are from provinces of Aklan and Iloilo

Meanwhile, six nonmedical frontliners in the region were infected with Covid-19, which include barangay kagawad, barangay health worker, barangay nutrition scholar, barangay service point officer, and an ambulance driver.

Reyes said the 23 healthcare workers represent 7.5 percent of the total 307 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the region as of Monday.

She further said that it is important for doctors to revisit protocols in their respective health facility.

“I-revisit lang siguro ang protocol kay high risk ang frontliners kay ti first layers sila sa pag-atubang sang pasyente. In writing maayo ang protocol but ang implementation lang ‘guro amo na ang tanawon,” Reyes added.

On Monday, two more doctors of St. Paul’s Hospital of Iloilo on General Luna Street in Iloilo City contracted the Covid-19, bringing to eight the total number of the hospital’s physicians who got infected./
