Science will get us through this pandemic
Science, according to Science Council, is the pursuit and application of knowledge and understanding of the natural and social world following a systematic methodology based on evidence.
As stated in Understanding Science, science aims to produce more and more accurate natural explanations of how the natural world works, what its components are, and how the world got to be the way it is now.
Starting from the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic up to the present, millions of people around the world were tested positive. There is a high toll of death rates. People were shaken, scared of what will happen to them or to their families, and they were anxious to go out of their homes. However, there is one spot that remained bright in our existence, and that is the power of our scientific knowledge to guide us through these difficult times.
We are now in the scientific era where scientists can explain and identify anything even in a short period of time. We don’t have to rely on assumptions and superstitions. We have studies based on scientific facts and not on supernatural beliefs. Scientists can explain how we are going to mitigate the spread of the virus. That is why we are advised to observe the best practices to fight this pandemic such as to wash our hands frequently with soap and use alcohol, use face mask and face shield when we are going to places where there are lots of people, avoid social gathering, and maintain a onemeter social distancing.
Vaccines for Covid-19 were developed with many clinical trials. According to Forbes, medical establishments, health care industries, and the resources of hundreds of thousands of professionals are using the full force of their knowledge and resources to combat this global pandemic.
All we have to do is to play our part by listening to or respecting the advice of those professionals who possess that expert knowledge.
The Covid-19 has a colossal impact on the world at present, but due to science, we have shown that we are going to go through this pandemic.
Science will lead us and prepare us for the challenges that will come our way. What we have done today in battling the virus will be tomorrow’s knowledge that will lead them to a better world for all humankind.
