Michelle Cobb wants Akari to peak at the right time

-

Akari captain Michelle Cobb is hopeful that her team will peak at the right time.

This, after the Chargers collected their breakthrough win in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference.

“Hindi ko rin kasi tinatanim sa isip ko na okay na kami, kasi every training, may natutunan akong bago, lalo na sa mga new players namin. So for me, ongoing process ‘yan all the time, and sana ‘yung peak namin hindi ngayon, kundi sa dulo,” Cobb said after a 25-19, 25-15, 25-22 sweep of Farm Fresh on Tuesday, March 5.

Cobb pulled the strings for the Chargers with 16 excellent sets, on top of two blocks and an attack, emphasizing her all-around gameplay at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

A winning mindset played a role in Akari’s straight-sets win against the Foxies, Cobb said.

“I think, as a training din naman kasi, nakikita na kumbaga, may goal ‘yung bawat isa, and I think dun din nagbunga ‘yung mindset na ‘yun today.”

The 5-foot-4 playmaker is also wishful that the Chargers will learn from each other and will bring this momentum to count victories this conference.

“[I] guess ‘yun. Marami pa kami matututunan sa bawat isa na pwede naming maayos pa and para mas manalo pa kami in the future games,” the La Salle product concluded.

Meanwhile, Grethcel Soltones, who provided the offense department with 16 points built on 13 attacks and two aces, said they could not afford to be distracted as they attempt to replicate the victory in their upcoming games.

“‘Yun nga, parati kong nire-remind sa teammates ko, lalo na ‘pag nasa loob ng court, na focus lang talaga, kasi once na mawala man kami, I mean, may distractions, dun kami nagsisimula magwatakwatak,” Soltones said.

“So ayun, focus lang talaga kami sa goal namin as a team.”
