THE PORTUGAL OPEN IS SOMETHING ELSE
Early in 2003, when Morgado was officially opened, a fresh course and all those things still to be done, we were all far from thinking that one day we’d host a European Tour tournament. Not that we didn’t talk about it – how would it go, who’d be the players, what would be the best score or the toughest hole – but always in the dream perspective. Fifteen years later – that is the time it took for the future to become the present, and the dream a reality. This one, of course, is a permanent one, in the commitment we have in terms of maintenance of the course and the reception of our players, so that they can all enjoy the best golf experience we are capable of offering. But the Portugal Open is something else! To host a European Tour tournament requires an enormous commitment in preparing the course, that has to be up to professional golf requirements of the highest standard, and in terms of organization, as there is no margin for error. Everything has to run smoothly, on the course, of course, but especially the support staff. When I first told the Morgado do Reguengo Golf employees that we would be hosting the Portugal Open, the immediate reaction was “let’s do it!” This level of enthusiasm and motivation is exactly what any manager wants to hear. Knowing that everything will be done to make the event a success, even knowing that it won’t be easy. This Open is also theirs, all the employees, both the ones who have been with us from the start, and these are the majority, and the ones who joined us over the last few years. They all believed in the course, the company, and they all do their best, everyday, for the success of Morgado. And this time it will not be any different.
So let the Open begin.
No início de 2003, quando foi oficialmente aberto o Morgado, campo tenrinho e ainda com tanto por fazer, estávamos longe de pensar que um dia receberíamos uma prova do European Tour. Não é que não falássemos sobre isso - como seria, quais os jogadores, qual o melhor resultado ou o buraco mais difícil – mas sempre no condicional, no plano dos sonhos. Quinze anos depois, foi este o tempo que o futuro levou a tornar-se presente e o sonho responsabilidade. Esta, claro, é uma constante, no empenho que diariamente dedicamos à manutenção dos campos e à receção dos nossos jogadores, para que desfrutem da melhor experiência de golfe que podemos proporcionar. Mas um Open de Portugal é outra coisa! Receber uma prova do European Tour exige um nível de empenho máximo, na preparação do campo, que tem de responder às exigências do golfe profissional ao mais alto nível, e na organização, onde não existe margem para o erro. É preciso que tudo esteja afinado, o campo, claro, mas principalmente a equipa. Quando transmiti aos colaboradores do Morgado do Reguengo Golf que iríamos receber o Open de Portugal, a reação imediata foi de “mãos à obra”. Este nível de entusiasmo e motivação é o que qualquer responsável quer ouvir. Saber que tudo será feito para que o evento seja um êxito, mesmo ciente de que não é tarefa fácil. Este Open também é deles, de todos os colaboradores, dos que estão connosco desde a abertura do empreendimento e que são a maioria, e daqueles que se foram juntando a nós ao longo do tempo. Todos acreditaram nos campos, na empresa, e dão o seu melhor todos os dias para o sucesso do Morgado. Desta vez, não será diferente.
