Abreu Golf Circuit
It was with Obidos as a surrounding scenery that the 4th Golfe Abreu circuit 2017 played its first stage, on April 29th. The 18 hole championship course, the Guardian Bom Sucesso golf was the venue chosen for the start of the competitive season, which will go on with six more national tournaments, and an international final, to take place in Seville in December. In mild weather, quite suitable for the game, this first stage of the circuit had eighty players attending, playing as 40 pairs. The qualification for the final was assured by pairs Jorge Abreu/Luis Miguel Themudo (1st Net, 42 points), David Stead/Timothy Jones (2nd Net, 41) and José Casimiro Coelho Lima/Fernando Adriano Costa Lopes (1st Gross, 30). The announced 09h00 tee time was met by forty pairs, enthusiastically starting the game. Throughout the match, the involvement of the sponsoring brands was visible though various actions. After some five hours of playing time, and with the arrival at the final green, there was a lunch at the clubhouse. With all golfers gathered in the same space, the opportunity was taken to give out the prizes to the winners, and to give out the raffle prizes. In 2017, in connection with the responsible citizenship that characterizes Abreu, the circuit associates itself with IPO Porto, with 10 percent of the enrolment fees reverting to the institution. The second stage of the circuit will take place on May 26th and 27th at the Furnas and Batalha courses, in São Miguel (Azores).

Foi com Óbidos como cenário envolvente que o IV Circuito de Golfe Abreu 2017 assinalou a sua primeira etapa, a 29 de abril. Com 18 buracos Championship, o Guardian Bom Sucesso Golf foi o course eleito para o arranque da época de competição, que prossegue com mais seis provas nacionais e uma final internacional a decorrer em Sevilha, no mês de dezembro. Com condições climatéricas amenas, adequadas à prática da modalidade, esta primeira jornada do IV Circuito de Golfe Abreu contou com a participação de 80 jogadores, que conduziram à formação de 40 pares. O apuramento para a final do Torneio ficou garantido pelas duplas Jorge Abreu e Luís Miguel Themudo (1º lugar Net, somando 42 pontos), David Stead e Timothy Jones (2º lugar Net, 41 pontos), e ainda José Casimiro Coelho Lima e Fernando Adriano da Costa Lopes (1º lugar Gross, num total de 30 pontos). O tee time anunciado cumpriu-se às 9h00, com as 40 duplas de golfistas a iniciarem o jogo de forma entusiasta. Enquanto a partida decorria, foi visível o envolvimento das marcas parceiras com os jogadores através de diversas ações. Decorridas cerca de cinco horas de match e após a chegada ao último green, concretizou-se um almoço-convívio na clubhouse. Reunidos todos os golfistas no mesmo espaço, o momento serviu para efetivar a entrega dos prémios aos vencedores da prova, e presentear os convivas com alguns sorteios de tômbola. Em 2017, na senda da cidadania responsável que caracteriza a Abreu, a iniciativa associa-se ao IPO Porto, revertendo a favor desta instituição 10% do valor das inscrições. A segunda etapa do Circuito decorre de 26 a 27 de maio, nos campos de golfe das Furnas e Batalha, na ilha de S. Miguel (Açores).
