Gala a Norte, by arquitectos

The Gala in the North tournament of the Architects Golf Club (AGC) took place on April 23rd and 24th with two games being played: one at the Aqueduto course, another at the Oporto Golf Club. Club members travelled north by bus, so as to strengthen conviviality between the players. The event was made up of a Pitch & Putt tournament, the 3rd on the P&P Order of Merit, in Paredes, at the Aqueduto course, and a tournament at the Oporto Golf Club, on the 24th, also the 3rd on the Order of Merit. The Aqueduto course has nine holes designed in a difficult terrain. It has an academy which is a starting point for golf for youth as part of school sports, which is remarkable. It is the second time the AG held a P & P tournament at Paredes. At the end all were happy with the sun and the exercise, but somewhat tired – and there was still the next day. Late in the afternoon a light meal was served next to the clubhouse, and a fun get together was generated by all partakers, including the host club members. On the second day of the Gala the group headed to Oporto, being received at one of the oldest European golf courses with excellent weather for playing golf, but the course, without the usual fairways, was somewhat difficult for less experienced players. At the end of the tournament, everyone got together in the clubhouse, where a meal whose chips at the time worked wonders for players’ recovery. A Gala dinner took place at the Casino de Espinho, preceded by an aperitif and a special piano moment by member Andrea Zenni, who was accompanied by the resident band. After the prize awarding ceremony, the night ended with a ball, the opening of which was handled by Dante and Beatriz, as is tradition. Direction and members of the AGC are to be congratulated for another successful foray to the North.

Otorneio Gala a Norte do Clube de Golfe dos Arquitectos, decorreu nos dias 23 e 24 de Abril, com a realização de duas provas: uma no Campo do Aqueduto e outro no Oporto Golf Club. Os sócios do clube deslocaram-se para o Norte do país num autocarro para maior comodidade e promoção de convívio entre todos os participantes. Fizeram parte deste acontecimento um torneio Pitch & Putt, o 3º da Ordem de Mérito de P&P, em Paredes no campo do Aqueduto a 23 e um torneio no Oporto Golf Club a 24, também o 3º da Ordem de Mérito. O campo do Aqueduto tem 9 buracos desenhados num terreno acidentado e com considerável dificuldade. Este campo tem uma academia que inicia os jovens da região no golfe através do Desporto Escolar o que é uma iniciativa de louvar. Foi a segunda vez que o CGA fez um torneio de P&P em Paredes. No final todos ficaram agradados com o sol que acompanhou a prova e com o exercício, mas algo cansados. Esperava-nos a jornada do dia seguinte. Ao fim da tarde foi servido um lanche volante junto à clubhouse e gerou-se um divertido convívio entre todos os participantes incluindo sócios do campo. No segundo dia da Gala, a comitiva rumou para o Oporto, sendo recebida neste que é um dos mais antigos campos de golfe europeus, com um tempo excelente para a prática da modalidade mas o campo, sem os habituais fairways, foi difícil para os jogadores não “habitués”. No final do torneio todos se juntaram no clubhouse para uma refeição cujas batatas fritas ao momento fizeram milagres na recuperação dos jogadores. O jantar de gala realizou-se no casino de Espinho antecedido de aperitivo e de excerto especial ao piano do sócio Andrea Zanni e foi acompanhado de espectáculo musical pela banda residente. Após a entrega dos prémios e da tômbola, a noite foi encerrada com baile cuja abertura esteve a cargo do Dante e da Beatriz como manda a história. Os sócios e a direcção do CGA estão de parabéns por mais um périplo a Norte.
