Ben­fica Beat Sport­ing


Ben­fica at­tained its fifth vic­tory in the yearly match with Sport­ing, which took place at Ribagolfe 1, in­volv­ing forty play­ers from each of the Lis­bon clubs. The tour­na­ment, a pairs match play, took place in warm weather, and Ben­fica won by 11,5-8,5. On the Sport­ing team em­pha­sis goes to for­mer goal keeper Ri­cardo Pereira who paired with Fer­nando Vaz (they won by 4-3), while on Ben­fica it was Domingo Soares Oliveira, vice pres­i­dent of the SAD who teamed up with Nuno Rocha San­tos, re­spon­si­ble for golf in the club, who won by 6-5. Only two ladies took part, Rita San­tos and Ma­ri­eta Araújo, both play­ing for Sport­ing. At the end there was a prize award­ing lunch at the Ribagolfe, prizes be­ing given out by the teams’ cap­tains, Or­lando San­tos (Ben­fica) and Mário Oliveira (Sport­ing).

OBen­fica obteve a quinta vitória no match an­ual com o Sport­ing, que decor­reu no per­curso Ribagolfe I e en­volveu 40 jo­gadores de cada clube de Lis­boa. O torneio, um match play a pares, decor­reu com tempo quente e o Ben­fica venceu por 11,5-8,5. Na equipa do Sport­ing desta­cou-se o antigo guarda-re­des Ri­cardo Pereira que fez du­pla com Fer­nando Vaz e gan­haram 4-3, en­quanto no Ben­fica foi Domin­gos Soares Oliveira, vice-pres­i­dente da SAD que fez equipa com Nuno Rocha San­tos, re­spon­sável pelo golfe no clube, que gan­haram por 6-5. Par­tic­i­param ape­nas duas sen­ho­ras, Rita San­tos e Ma­ri­eta Araújo, pelo Sport­ing. No fi­nal re­al­i­zou-se no Ribagolfe o al­moço e a dis­tribuição dos prémios, en­tre os “capitães” Or­lando San­tos (Ben­fica) e Mário Oliveira (Sport­ing).
