The Oporto received in late May another edition of the Selby Cup, one of the many competitions of that tradition-laden club. The tournament, played to foursomes rules, has clear rules. Each pair carries a flag onto the course, and the winner is the one who places the flag the farthest, after the previously allocated strokes are expended. Victory befell the pair made out of José Abrantes and Rui Martins, who finished on the fairway of the 19th. One week later, another pairs tournament, but this time of mixed pairs. It was this year’s edition of the Spring Cup, with eight pairs. The best was the pair Vitor Alves/Madalena Carreira, who won with 41 points. Still in May there was also the Vinhos Quinta da Avidagos tournament, gathering 79 players. The winner was Jerome Chéné (38 points), leaving Ricardo Abrantes (37) in second and Afonso Pinheiro Torres (36) in third. Amongst ladies, victory to Susan Howcroft (38), while in gross the club’s president, Manuel Violas, beat all competitors (27).

OOporto Golf Club acolheu no final de maio mais uma edição da Taça Selby, uma das muitas competições daquele coletividade que guarda muita tradição. A prova, jogada na modalidade de foursomes, e as regras são simples. Cada par leva para o campo uma bandeira e vence quem colocar a bandeira mais longe, depois de esgotadas as pancadas previamente atribuídas. A vitória coube à dupla constituída por José Abrantes e Rui Martins, que terminaram no fairway do 19. Uma semana depois, mais uma prova de pares, desta vez mistos, a animar o centenário percurso do Oporto. Tratouse da edição deste ano da Taça Spring, que contou com a presença de oito pares. Esteve melhor a dupla Vitor Alves / Madalena Carreira, que venceu com 41 pontos. Ainda em maio, o Torneio do Vinhos Quinta de Avidagos reuniu 79 jogadores. Jerome Chéné, com 38 pontos, foi o vencedor, deixando Ricardo Abrantes (37 pontos) em segundo, e Afonso Pinheiro Torres (36) no derradeiro lugar do pódio. Entre as Senhoras, vitória para Susan Howcroft (38 pontos), enquanto que em Gross, o presidente do clube, Manuel Violas, arrasou a concorrência com 27 pontos.
