West Cliffs a fantastiC Challenge

This is a symbol of the confidence of tourism entrepreneurs, and also a good sign of the evolution taking place in Portugal, said the Economics Minister, Manuel Caldeira Cabral, at the official opening of West Cliffs, the first golf course to be opened in Portugal since 2012. And next year there will be the opening of another golf course. It will be a Finnish investment at the Quinta da Ombria (Loulé), designed by Portuguese Jorge Santana da Silva, with a planned opening in March or April 2018. West Cliffs is the result of an ambitious project at the Praia d’El Rey, which is already a huge success. In the fifteen days preceding the official opening it registered some thousand rounds, and in the same period some seven thousand reservations have come in for the coming months, until the end of the year. This new course, the fourth to be opened in the West Region, next to the excellent beaches between Peniche and the Obidos Lagoon, occupies 80 of the 230 hectares of the resort sited within a few minutes of the Praia d’El Rey, in an area offering fabulous views over the ocean and the Berlengas Islands.West Cliffs represents an investment of 21,5 million euro, of which seven were for the golf course. The project includes exclusive real estate and two hotels, the first one (5 stars) to be opened within two to three years, between the clubhouse and the beach, and boasting 130 rooms. The course was designed by American Cynthis Dye (Dye Design Group), and is based on sandy soil, fairways lined by local vegetation and pine forest, which also sometimes comes into play. The protection of nature and of the environment have been – and continue to be – an important element in the construction of this luxury resort. The official opening was presided over by Economics Minister Manuel Caldeira Cabarl (who also had his first golf experience), with the presence of the Secretary of State for Tourism, Ana Mendes Godinho, the President of the FPG, entities linked to Tourism Portugal and Tourism of Central Portugal and other officials

Este é um símbolo da confiança dos agentes do turismo e também um bom símbolo da evolução que Portugal está a ter, disse o Ministro da Economia, Manuel Caldeira Cabral, na inauguração oficial do West Cliffs, o primeiro campo de golfe a abrir em Portugal desde 2012. E no próximo ano será, em princípio, também inaugurado apenas um campo de golfe. Será um investimento finlandês na Quinta da Ombria (Loulé), com desenho do português Jorge Santana da Silva a abrir provavelmente em Março ou Abril de 2018. O West Cliffs é o resultado de um protejo ambicioso da Praia d’El Rey, que é já um sucesso enorme. Nos 15 dias que antecederam a inauguração oficial registou cerca de mil voltas e no mesmo período chegaram mais de sete mil reservas já para os próximos meses, até final do ano. Este novo campo, o quarto a abrir nesta região do Oeste, junto às excelentes e exclusivas praias entre Peniche e a Lagoa de Óbidos, ocupa 80 dos 230 hectares do resort localizado a poucos minutos da Praia d’El Rey e numa área que proporciona panorâmicas fabulosas para o mar e para as Ilhas Berlengas. O West Cliffs representa um investimento de 21,5 milhões de euros, dos quais sete milhões são para o golfe. O projeto inclui imobiliária de luxo e dois hotéis, o primeiro (5 estrelas) a surgir dentro de dois a três anos, entre o clube house e a praia e com 130 quartos. O campo foi desenhado pela norte-americana Cynthia Dye (Dye Designs Group) e delineado no terreno arenoso, fairways ladeados pela vegetação autóctone e pinhal, que entra também algumas vezes em jogo. A proteção da Natureza e a defesa do Ambiente estiveram, e estão ainda, sempre em jogo na construção deste resort de luxo. A inauguração oficial foi presidida pelo Ministro da Economia, Manuel Caldeira Cabral (que teve também a sua primeira experiência no golfe) e com a presença da Secretária de Estado do Turismo, Ana Mendes Godinho, Presidente da FPG, entidades do Turismo de Portugal e Turismo do Centro, autarcas e outras entidades..
