Tomás Melo Gouveia in Pro Golf Tour

Five days after winning the Portuguese Golf Federation Cup - BPI for the second time in a row at the Estela Golf Club, the National Champion Tomás Melo Gouveia successfully completed his participation in the Qualifying School of the Pro Golf Tour 2017, in October, at the Golf Club Paderborner Land (par 72) in Salzkottenm, a town about a hundred kilometers from Dortmund. The Vilamoura Golf Club player finished the competition tied for 24th in a groupof eight players, among them another Portuguese, João Zitzer, with the corresponding achievement of Category 8 (20th to 60th) for the 2018 season, and the guarantee of entry in all, or almost all the tournaments. For them it was however the bitter taste of having failed to achieve Category 5 (top-20) by three shots. The third Portuguese in the race, Tiago Rodrigues, finished in 64th, leaving in Category 10 (61st to 90th). Cinco dias depois de ter vencido, no Estela Golf Club, a Taça da Federação Portuguesa de Golfe – BPI pela segunda vez consecutiva, o campeão nacional Tomás Melo Gouveia concluiu em outubro com êxito a sua participação na Escola de Qualificação do Pro Golf Tour 2017, no Golf Club Paderborner Land (par 72), em Salzkottenm,localidade a uma centena de quilómetros de Dortmund. O jogador do Clube de Golfe de Vilamoura terminou a prova no grupo dos 24.º, empatado com oito jogadores, entre eles outro português, João Zitzer, com a correspondente conquista da Categoria 8 (20.º a 60.º) para a época de 2018 e a garantia de entrada em todos ou quase todos os torneios. Para eles ficou no entanto o sabor amargo de terem falhado por uma pancada a Categoria 5 (top-20). O terceiro português em prova, Tiago Rodrigues, encerrou no lote dos 64.ºs, ficando na Categoria 10 (61.º a 90.º).
