The Vilamoura Golf Club finished the European Men’s Club Trophy - an authentic European Champion Clubs’ Cup - in sixth place among 25 teams after three rounds of competition at the Médoc Golf Resort (Par 71) in southwest France. The event was won by RCF La Boulie with 414 strokes (139-135-140), 12 under par, which left runners-up Galway Golf Cub of Ireland 10 strokes away. In the first round, Vilamoura had 141 strokes, and on the last day scored 140, the second best result of the last day, only surpassed by 139 of the Belgians of the Royal Waterloo Golf Club. In the middle, a round of 147 thwarted their highest ambitions. Even so, with a combined aggregate of 428 (+2), the Algarve club was only three strokes away from third place, which was occupied by the English of the City of Newcastle Golf Club, with 425 (-1). For Vilamoura, who were champions in 2013, Vítor Lopes was in evidence, finishing in 10th place in the unofficial individual classification, won by the Belgian Adrien Dumont de Chassard.

A prova foi ganha de forma destacada pelo RCF La Boulie, com 414 pancadas (139-135-140), 12 abaixo do par, o que deixou os vice-campeões do Galway Golf Cub, da Irlanda, a 10 pancadas de distância. Na abertura, Vilamoura tinha somado 141 pancadas, e no último dia marcou 140, o segundo melhor resultado do último dia, só superado pelo 139 dos belgas do Royal Waterloo Golf Club. Pelo meio, uma segunda volta de 147 que hipotecou as suas mais altas ambições. Mesmo assim, com um total agregado de 428 (+2), o conjunto algarvio ficou somente a três pancadas do terceiro lugar, que foi ocupado pelos ingleses do City of Newcastle Golf Club, com 425 (-1). Por parte de Vilamoura, que foi campeão em 2013, Vítor Lopes esteve em evidência, terminando na 10.ª posição da classificação individual oficiosa, ganha pelo belga Adrien Dumont de Chassard.
