Forty-two golfers were in attendance on Friday the 13th at the Terceira Island Golf Club (CGIT) to play the “cod tournament” that changed format and day of the week this year to be included on the official program of the 46th World Congress of the Academies of Codfish that was held in the Azores for the first time. To the “compadres,” local players and those coming from the Portuguese mainland, Madeira, France, South Africa, and other CGIT players joined.Gross was dominated by the brothers Soares (30 points). Délio took first in the tiebreaker over Jorge, who represented him at the prize ceremony. In third was Rodrigo Rodrigues (28). In Net the top three finished with 38 points and were classified according to the tie breaking proceedure in the following order: Francisco Nogueira, Luís Gomes and Paula Mendes. The best “compadre” was veteran João Valentim Carvalho with 35 points. The prizes were given during the gala of the congress that took place in the Azores room of the Terceira Golf Clubwith more than 460 in attendance between congressmembers and guests. The next Congress of the Academies of Codfish will be held next year in Johannesburg,South Africa, where golf will also be present as is the tradition of this event.

Quarenta e dois golfistas compareceram numa sexta-feira 13 no Clube de Golfe da Ilha Terceira para disputar o “torneio do bacalhau” que este ano mudou de formato e de dia da semana de modo a integrar o programa oficial do 46º Congresso Mundial das Academias de Bacalhau que se realizou pela primeira vez nos Açores. Aos “compadres”, jogadores locais e oriundos do continente português, Madeira, França e África do Sul, juntaram-se outros jogadores sócios do CGIT. Em Gross domínio dos irmãos Soares (30 pontos) tendo Délio levado a melhor no desempate sobre Jorge que o representou na entrega de prémios. Em terceiro classificou-se Rodrigo Rodrigues (28). Em Net os três primeiros terminaram com 38 pontos tendo-se classificado de acordo com o regulamento pela seguinte ordem: Francisco Nogueira, Luís Gomes e Paula Mendes. O melhor “compadre” foi o veterano João Valentim Carvalho com 35 pontos. Os prémios foram entregues durante a gala do congresso que se realizou na sala Açores do Clube de Golfe da Ilha Terceira e que contou com mais de 460 presenças entre congressistas e convidados. O próximo Congresso das Academias do Bacalhau será realizado para o ano em Joanesburgo na África do Sul onde o golfe também marcará presença como é tradição nesse evento.
