Maintenance and Volunteers

During the week of the Portugal Masters, and the week before, when the course closes for the final touches, the maintenance team will consist of about 50 people who start working shortly after 4 o’clock in the morning and finish close to midnight. Among the workers will be ten foreign greenkeepers, volunteers, who purposly move to the Algarve to learn from their Portuguese counterparts how to prepare a course for a tournament of the highest magnitude. Bruno Inácio, who is part of the Vilamoura maintenance team, will also be among the greenkeepers and will be the only Portuguese involved as a volunteer in the preparation of the National Course in Paris, which hosts the Ryder Cup the week after the Masters. Inácio will go to Paris before the end of the Masters. The maintenance crew at Victoria has received new machines for the various course tasks - cutting fairways, greens, etc.

Durante a semana do Portugal Masters, e na semana anterior, quando o campo fechar para os trabalhos finais, a equipa da manutenção será constituída por cerca de 50 pessoas que começam a trabalhar pouco depois das 4 horas da manhã e terminam perto da meia-noite. Entre os trabalhadores estarão dez greenkeepers estrangeiros, voluntários, que se deslocam propositadamente ao Algarve para aprenderem com os seus homólogos portugueses a preparar um campo para um torneio de primeira grandeza do tour. E no grupo dos greenkeepers estará também o algarvio Bruno Inácio, que integra a equipa de manutenção dos campos de Vilamoura, e que será o único português envolvido, como voluntário, na preparação do campo National, em Paris, que recebe a Ryder Cup na semana a seguir ao Masters. Bruno Inácio segue para Paris antes de terminar o Masters. A manutenção do Victoria recebeu novas máquinas para os vários trabalhos de campo – corte de fairways, greens, etc...
