The first meeting between the Senior Associations of Portugal and Sweden took place on October 30th and 31st, on the Oitavos and Quinta da Marinha courses.
As part of the development of the ANSG international calendar, this tournament was attended by the two Mixed National Teams of each Country, who met for two days in Ryder Cup style, the first day being at Oitavos Dunes in four ball better ball format, Match Play, with a total of 8 mixed pairs (16 players from each team). Portugal finished the first day of the competition with a 1 point lead - 3.5 / 4.5. The second day was played at Quinta da Marinha with the individual matches showing a very strong Sweden. By the end of the Ladies’ matches, which were the first to play, Sweden had already turned the score around, and won the second day by 10/6. They ended up winning the event by 13.5 / 10.5. The event ended with a lunch, during which the cup was awarded to the winning team and prizes for all participants, attended by our President António Costa and Magnum Johanson, board member of the Swedish Association.
Another highlight is a putting competition that took place on the first day where each player was entitled to putt to a hole about 30 meters away. Also in this competition a Swedish pair who managed to put the ball closer to the hole won.
This was another highly successful ANSG initiative just three weeks after organizing and winning a similar tournament against Spanish counterparts. Lastly, we must highlight and thank, for all the support and promotion of the event, Jorge Oliveira da Silva from ANSG and Morgan Benthede from Swedish Senior Golf.
Oprimeiro encontro entres as Associações de Seniores de Portugal e da Suécia realizou-se nos passados dias 30 e 31 de outubro, nos campos dos Oitavos e Quinta da Marinha.
Integrado no desenvolvimento do calendário internacional da ANSG, este torneio teve a participação das duas Seleções Nacionais Mistas de cada País, que se defrontaram durante dois dias ao estilo Ryder Cup, sendo o primeiro dia nos Oitavos Dunes na modalidade four ball better ball, Match Play, num total de 8 pares mistos (16 jogadores de cada equipa). Portugal terminou o primeiro dia da competição com uma vantagem de 1 ponto - 3,5 / 4,5. O segundo dia foi disputado na Quinta da Marinha com os matches individuais a demonstrarem uma Suécia muito forte, pois no final das partidas das Senhoras, que foram as primeiras a jogar, já tinha dado a volta ao resultado. A Suécia venceu o segundo dia por 10 / 6 acabando por se sagrar vencedora do evento por 13,5 / 10,5. O evento terminou com um almoço, durante o qual se procedeu á entrega da taça á equipa vencedora e prémios para todos os participantes, com a presença do nosso Presidente António Costa e de Magnum Johanson, membro do board da Associação Sueca. Destaque ainda para uma competição de Putt que decorreu no primeiro dia onde cada jogador tinha direito a jogar um putt para um buraco a cerca de 30 metros de distância. Também nesta competição venceu um par sueco que conseguiu colocar a bola mais próxima do buraco. Esta foi mais uma iniciativa de grande sucesso da ANSG apenas três semanas depois de ter organizado, e vencido, um torneio semelhante contra a nossa congénere espanhola. Por último, não podemos deixar de realçar e agradecer, por todo o apoio e dinamização do Evento, ao Jorge Oliveira da Silva por parte da ANSG e ao Morgan Benthede da Swedish Senior Golf.
