PALHEIRO GOLF: BENFICA VS PORTO

The first edition of the Benfica vs Porto Tournament took place at the beginning of October at Palheiro Golf, on the island of Madeira. The tournament was attended by staunch supporters from both teams, committed to defending the color of their jersey, but most of all keen to play golf.

The draw was held on the morning of the tournament in the presence of all participating players. The groups were formed by pairing teams of two Benfiquistas and two Portistas.

At the end of the game it was a draw. As it was mandatory to have a winner, the playoff was played by three golfers from each side. Defending Benfica were Duarte Rodrigues, Ambrósio Teixeira and Carlos Sidónio. From the Portista side Peter Felten, James Ascension and José Ornelas Camacho went to the field.

Benfica won on the second hole of the playoff.

During the awards ceremony, chaired by Palheiro President Duarte Rodrigues, the winning team members received an allusive trophy, with the inscription of the tournament winner.

Special awards went to Duarte Rodrigues (Longest Drive) and Edgar Rodrigues (Closest).

Aprimeira edição do Torneio Benfica vs Porto decorreu no início de Outubro no Palheiro Golfe, na ilha da Madeira. O torneio contou com a presença de adeptos ferrenhos de ambas as equipas, empenhados em defender a cor da sua camisola, mas acima de tudo cheios de vontade de jogar golfe.

O draw foi realizado só na manhã do torneio na presença de todos os jogadores participantes. Os grupos foram formados por equipas de dois golfistas benfiquistas e dois portistas.

No final do jogo, houve um empate. Como era requisito obrigatório haver um vencedor, o desempate foi feito em campo por três golfistas de cada equipa. A defender o Benfica, estiveram Duarte Rodrigues, Ambrósio Teixeira e Carlos Sidónio. Do lado Portista Peter Felten, Tiago Ascensão e José Ornelas Camacho foram para o campo.

O Benfica, acabou por vencer no segundo buraco do playoff.

Durante a cerimónia de entrega de prémios, presidiada pelo presidente do Palheiro, Duarte Rodrigues, os elementos da equipa vencedora receberam um troféu alusivo, com a inscriação do vencedor do torneio. Os prémios especiais foram para Duarte Rodrigues (Longest Drive) e Edgar Rodrigues (Closest).
