2019 NATIONAL AMATEUR RANKINGS
The 5th Tournament of the Cashback World Circuit, held in November at the Quinta do Peru Golf & Country Club course in Azeitão, was the last event of 2019 to count towards the National Ranking.
The tournament was won by Pedro Lencart (Miramar) in Men and Leonor Medeiros (Quinta do Peru) in Ladies. Daniel Rodrigues (Miramar) was second in the 5th Tournament, as had happened in the 3rd and 4th Tournaments, in all cases beaten by Pedro Lencart, but had already secured by a wide margin and by the second year, the first place in the National Ranking - BPI. Only the triumph at the Portuguese Amateur International earned him 1500 points. 3rd place in the Madrid Open Championship gave him the second best prize - 795 points. Among the tournaments that he scored in the ranking, he also won the 86th Audi Absolute National Championship, the 2nd Cashback World Tournament and the National Club Championship - Solverde, with four second places on the Cashback World Circuit.
“Dani” ends the year with 5043 points in the BPI National Ranking, with second and third place finishers, respectively, his club mate Pedro Clare Neves, with 2598, and Vasco Alves, of Porto Golf Club, with 2385,5. In the National BPI Ranking for Women, Sofia Sá (Quinta do Peru), just 15 years old, succeeds Leonor Bessa (Miramar) as # 1. Even losing possession of the Portuguese Golf Federation Cup, which belonged to her in 2017 and 2018, the Quinta do Peru athlete was national runner-up and won two tournaments (1st and 2nd) on the Cashback World Circuit. Sofia Sá ended the year with 3251.5 points in the 10 scoring tournaments in which she participated, also winning the absolute and U16 national championships. Leonor Medeiros was in 2nd place, with 3162.5 points, and Rita Costa Marques (Miramar), 3rd, with 2495. Leonor Medeiros was, for the second year in a row, No. 1 on the Cashback World Circuit Women’s Gold Ranking, with six wins and 2025 points. Rita Costa Marques was 2nd with 1580 and Sofia Sá 3rd with 1420. In the Male Gold Ranking, Alberto Costa Marques, just 14 years old, came out the winner. The young athlete from Miramar who recently won the national U14 championships scored best in his win in the R. S. Yeatman Cup and second place in the 102nd Lisbon Cup, earning four top-10’s.
