QGBC an­nounces spon­sors of Qatar Sus­tain­abil­ity Week

Qatar Green Build­ing Coun­cil (QGBC) has an­nounced the spon­sors of Qatar Sus­tain­abil­ity Week 2018. Held un­der the pa­tron­age of HE Sheikh Ab­dul­lah bin Nasser bin Khal­ifa al-Thani, the Prime Min­is­ter and Min­is­ter of In­te­rior, the event will take place from Oc­to­ber 27 to Novem­ber 3. Or­gan­ised by QGBC – a mem­ber of Qatar Foun­da­tion – Qatar Sus­tain­abil­ity Week 2018 will be held at venues and lo­ca­tions across the coun­try. The event sup­ports ef­forts to achieve Qatar’s sus­tain­abil­ity goals by en­gag­ing pub­lic and pri­vate sec­tor or­gan­i­sa­tions in sus­tain­abil­ity-ori­ented ac­tiv­i­ties and fos­ter­ing a cul­ture of en­vi­ron­men­tal aware­ness among res­i­dents. Msheireb Prop­er­ties has signed up for the third year as Plat­inum Spon­sor of Qatar Sus­tain­abil­ity Week 2018. Redco Con­struc­tion – Al­mana will be Gold Spon­sor, and Tad­mur Hold­ing will be Awards Spon­sor for the sec­ond year in a row. For the first time, Ashghal will be Strate­gic Spon­sor, Oore­doo will be Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions Spon­sor, and two or­gan­i­sa­tions – ENGIE’s Cofely Be­six Fa­cil­ity Man­age­ment and QAFAM – have signed up as Qatar Green Build­ing Con­fer­ence Spon­sors in ad­di­tion to Con­tact­less as the Tech­nol­ogy Spon­sor. The Na­tional Pro­gramme for Con­ser­va­tion and En­ergy Ef­fi­ciency (Tarsheed), part of Qatar Gen­eral Elec­tric­ity & Wa­ter Cor­po­ra­tion (Kahra­maa), will serve as Sus­tain­abil­ity Part­ner, while the Ab­dul­lah Bin Ha­mad Al-At­tiyah In­ter­na­tional Foun­da­tion for En­ergy & Sus­tain­able De­vel­op­ment will sup­port the ini­tia­tive as Strate­gic Part­ner for the sec­ond con­sec­u­tive year. Engi­neer Me­shal al-Shamari, direc­tor, QGBC, said, “Qatar Sus­tain­abil­ity Week is now in its third year. This is an ex­cep­tional ini­tia­tive that brings or­gan­i­sa­tions and peo­ple to­gether to fur­ther the sus­tain­abil­ity move­ment in Qatar. At QGBC we be­lieve that pub­lic aware­ness and com­mu­nity ini­tia­tives like Qatar Sus­tain­abil­ity Week are vi­tal if we are to change mind­sets and be­come a more sus­tain­able coun­try.” Qatar Sus­tain­abil­ity Week 2018 will hold one of its most prom­i­nent events, the fourth edi­tion of the Qatar Green Build­ing Con­fer­ence, from Oc­to­ber 28–30. The con­fer­ence, which is held un­der the pa­tron­age of HE Sheikha Hind bint Ha­mad alThani, vice chair­per­son and CEO of Qatar Foun­da­tion, will bring to­gether in­dus­try lead­ers and sus­tain­abil­ity ex­perts to ad­dress and show­case their in­no­va­tive so­lu­tions to Qatar and the re­gion’s most press­ing en­vi­ron­men­tal chal­lenges. Over 20,000 peo­ple par­tic­i­pated in Qatar Sus­tain­abil­ity Week 2017, with more than 100 part­ners reg­is­ter­ing for over 200 events. This year, QGBC is ex­pect­ing even greater lev­els of en­gage­ment.
