Centre for Strategic Studies takes part in Istanbul conference
The Strategic Studies Centre (SSC) of the Qatar Armed Forces has participated for the second consecutive year in the Istanbul Security Conference 2018 and the Second Turkish Gulf Forum for Defence and Security, in partnership with the Turkish Asian Centre for Strategic Studies (TASAM).
The Forum, which was held under the theme “Future of the Security in the Gulf”, focused on security issues experienced by the region and determining the paths of the future.
The SSC’s participation in the forum aims at investing the success it has achieved in the previous edition and building on it in order to develop the forum as an incubator for intellectuals and specialists in the Middle East and the Gulf region, especially against the backdrop of the Gulf crisis.
SSC Director Major General Dr Hamad al-Marri emphasised the importance of the specialised forum, as a result of the fruitful co-operation in the field of research between the centres of strategic studies in both countries.
The forum saw the participation by HE the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah al-Khater, who focused in her speech on the partnership frameworks between Qatar and Turkey. A number experts and analysts from Qatar as well as from friendly countries also took part in the forum.
Within this framework, HE Chief of Staff of Qatari Armed Forces Lieutenant General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen al-Ghanem was awarded the Strategic Vision Award of 2018, which is given annually by the Turkish Asian Centre for Strategic Studies, to outstanding leaders in strategic areas.
