Rain and strong winds expected today

-

Thundershowers are expected in the country today, along with strong winds in some places, the Qatar Met department has said.

Offshore areas, too, are likely to experience thundery rain, windy conditions and high seas today, according to the weather report.

The wind speed will be 1020 knots offshore, going up to 40 knots during thundery rain, while the sea level may rise to 15’.

Inshore, the wind speed will be 5-15 knots, reaching a high of 30 knots during thundershowers.

The detailed forecast for both inshore and offshore areas says it will be cloudy today and there is a chance of scattered rain, which may turn thundery at times.

The Met department yesterday also tweeted that the chance of scattered rain of variable intensity continues today, which may become thundery at times, especially in the northern areas.

“Marine warnings remain in effect. Please be careful and follow latest updates through our official social media accounts,” it added.

The weather office had recently said in a report that a “state of atmospheric instability” was expected to affect the country due to an “extension of a low-pressure” system from Friday until Tuesday.

Parts of the country, especially in the north, have received scattered rain over the past couple of days along with some offshore areas.

Meanwhile, the minimum and maximum temperatures expected in the country today are 23° Celsius in Ruwais and Dukhan, and 32°C in Wakrah and Mesaieed, respectively, while Doha will see temperatures in the range of 25°C and 31°C.
