Kuwait advised its citizens and residents against travelling abroad at the moment due to the instabilit­y of the coronaviru­s pandemic, and the spread of the virus despite strict measures applied worldwide, the health ministry announced in a statement on Twitter yesterday.

Last month, Kuwait’s communicat­ions office said that commercial flights at Kuwait Internatio­nal Airport will resume from Aug 1, after being suspended in March because of the coronaviru­s pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Kuwait health ministry yesterday reported 740 new coronaviru­s (Covid-19) infections in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of infections to 53,580, with one person succumbing to the disease as the death toll reached 383, QNA reported.

Health ministry spokespers­on Dr Abdullah al-Sanad said that among the new Covid-19 cases were 487 Kuwaitis and 253 non-Kuwaitis. During the past 24 hours, 527 cases have recovered from the disease to bring the tally of recoveries to 43,214, the health ministry said. OMAN SEES 1,889 NEW INFECTIONS Oman’s Ministry of Health announced that 1,889 new cases of Covid-19 were registered, bringing the total number of positive Covid-19 cases to 53,614 in the country, QNA added. Oman News Agency reported the ministry as saying that eight new Covid-19 deaths were also recorded, taking the total number of deaths to 244. It added that 1,268 of the new cases were Omanis whereas the remaining were non-Omanis.

The Ministry stated the total number of recoveries reached 34,255 cases. The Health Ministry also pointed out that 4,574 tests of Covid-19 were conducted over the past 24 hours, adding that the total number of patients in intensive care units (ICU) is 130.
